Once upon a time there was this one special embutido that our family would regularly buy, it was only available at Cherry’s. I so wanted to figure out how it was made, it’s just that I didn’t know where to start. When I heard from one of the mothers in our church that she knows one recipe, she readily shared it with me upon inquiry. I did have it tweak to my taste, a little more and less of this and that. The MSG has to go altogether. I want nothing of that crap. Plus, unlike other embutidos that I have heard of, this one is loaded with zero extenders. Commercial ones are filled with bread crumbs that you almost get a taste of a pudding than an embutido. Read the rest of this entry »

This is one of the photos my son loves to look at as he remembers the Subic getaway we had with Gina’s family, October of last year. It will be a year since and my boy still remembers vividly details of that trip. We hope to be with them soon. :-)

Serious economic problems seem to be the ever dominating topic for just about every news episode that I chance upon these past months. This does not just speak about our beloved country, but it is, in fact, a world wide event. I have mentioned quite a number of times that this has been a major reason why we rarely turn on the television at  home. Learning about the hang ups of numerous businesses are just too much for me to handle, I guess.

Until I heard about Inner 8. They are launching a by invitation only private beta site. Spearheaded by no other than the founders of ETRADE themselves. Inner8 offers the sophistication of that state of the art tools powered by proprietary analytics. A brand new community with a new generation technology, communities and analytics that focuses on alternative investing. As they have it, “Great investing minds think differently.”

The over the top analytics and correlation technology that they have translate to better market views and is actually designed to get you connected to the right people, given the right information, resulting to reaching your investing goals with the right strategies.

If one can really do away with the threat of financial crisis and actually make that bold step of managing your assets, then it is best to have it right and know your aces, and have them work for you.

1. Bonding time with Ana (coming home for a vacation), my bestfriend, Gina’s birthday… are some of the things I’m most looking forward to in October.

2. Sometimes I stutter, when I am put on the spot. Read the rest of this entry »

christmas_background5.jpgThe incoming of the “ber” months has always made me giddy. It does not just mean that the hubby and I are celebrating our birth month but also the jumpstart of the holidays. I am such a little girl at heart when it comes to holidays. I thought it would all go away the moment I left the corporate world. Bonuses, extra and a half months pays were always anticipated around this season. But six years after I left to be a full time minister’s wife and mother, and the many things I do in between, I still smell the air of the season amidst the pollution in the metro. I think I might be a little dreamy in that sense. :-) Read the rest of this entry »

In any and every relationship, trust is very important. It is essential that a person is trustworthy and this is established early in a relationship and is developed through time. Singles in the getting-to-know stage build trust as they discover and learn new things about each other.

In this day and age online relationships have become popular. Even those trying to develop or find romantic relationships have began using the internet as a place to find future partners. The problem with this is there is that there are the hard reality of many deceptive and hard-to-trust characters in the internet because of the natural communication and relationship dynamics that the online world has.

A handy site that gives a free background check on anyone is DatesandLove.com. Aside from the free people search they provide, they also offer a way to verify the truthfulness and trustworthiness of people who are met online.

This is very helpful especially those who are seriously considering finding a romantic relationship through online means. It is better to get the facts clear early on than to regret not knowing when it’s too late.

These shots were taken this weekend. Met with Neil, the birthday boy last Friday at U.P. Saturday, we shopped for the little guy’s clothes. He still has a handful of shirts but all his shorts and long pants are all too small for him already. It was hard to believe that nothing fits him in the baby clothes section of the mall anymore! He is not even four years old yet, that alone should classify him as a toddler at least. It was actually the first time we roamed around the older children’s place.

Here are some weekend photos:

computer.JPGI admit that being a work from home mom can be a major cause of burn out. Don’t get me wrong, I am not in any way complaining, in fact, I would not have it any other way. I just need to recharge myself of sorts. Lately, I have been feeling that I always have to be on the go. Aside from the month being a really busy one for us, with celebrations here and there. Getting busy with my culinary skills, multi tasking as I do my usual business online. Although things may sound toxic as it does, I do have fun with my boys. A getaway is just becoming a necessity lately and I know I am going to have to indulge on one or two in the coming month – I am seeing Cebu and Bohol in my vision. :D

Yesterday was a relief for me, because the hubby gave me a treat of not having to prepare breakfast, because it’s my special day and he did it again today. I guess it is going to be one special week for me, which I very much welcome. A sweet break for me. ;-)

One of the things that I really am thankful for is the convenience of the internet. Transactions for practically all the bills that we have to settle on a monthly basis are all done online. From utilities to mortgage and my small prepaid mobile reloading business for different networks (which explains the multiple mobile units I have with me – one of which is a dual active one, that makes three networks in all). The online payments that I am able to do is really the most convenient thing for me. No more having to fall in line that takes forever.

Another interesting site that I came across is this Essay web page. Read the rest of this entry »

As I went about applying what I shared in my Handy Tips and Hints web page about cleaning in layers, I still cannot help but be overwhelmed when the time for changing linens, curtains, drapes and valances is due. This petite girl gets things done with the help of a steel ladder, which I am not exactly very fond of. It gets even crazier when in my quest to pulling off the dirty drapes, my silly little rascal would come tail and climb up the ladder with me which gives me the creeps. So you can just imagine me getting down and talk it out with the little guy first, distract him of sorts before I do my business with the windows. Read the rest of this entry »

Some of you might think that because I have gone lazy updating this blog, that it will just be a matter of time until I stop blogging altogether. Far from it. The truth of the matter is, my pink and sassy site, Kikay Corner is getting its regular dose of updates (67 entries for the month of September alone!) like I never thought it ever would. It was a few weeks back when we announced and invited our ministry workers from the church to our home for a double birthday celebration. We timed it in between our birthdays (the hubby’s and mine), which is fifteen days apart. These are the key people that we share our calling with and we found it fitting to have them celebrate with us, even as simple as this get together is. Nothing grand, I just cooked the same pasta dish that I prepared the week before and threw in some homemade pizzas and baked chocolate chip cookies. Which they all loved, judging from the empty cookie jars and serving dishes. :D Read the rest of this entry »

We had some of our church ministers to come over our place last Saturday for a combined birthday celebration (mine and the hubby’s). We had them come over for lunch so that they wouldn’t have to go home very late and end up missing the service the day after. We watched the video “How great is our God!” by Louie Giglio which is such an amazing and eye opening video, to say the least. Read the rest of this entry »

Another treasure from an aged journal. The hubby and I used this lesson in one of our couples Bible study sessions back in 2002 or 2003. It blessed me to leaf through the pages of my devotional journals and got reminded how the Lord was as real to me then as He is to me now. He has not changed, ever remained faithful even through times that I tend to be faithless. I hope to share these Biblical truths that I jotted down in a page of my old journal.

img-5647-copy.jpgThe Three Biblical Requirements for Marriage:

1. A man and a woman.

“So God created man in his own image,
in the image of God he created him;
male and female he created them.” Gen. 1:27

2. A sexual relationship.

God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground.” Gen. 1:28

3. Lifetime commitment.

3Some Pharisees came to him to test him. They asked, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any and every reason?”

4“Haven’t you read,” he replied, “that at the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female, 5and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh‘? 6So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate.”

7“Why then,” they asked, “did Moses command that a man give his wife a certificate of divorce and send her away?”

8Jesus replied, “Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning. Matt. 19:3-8

If only one or two elements are present, there is a distortion of God’s plan. A few examples might be:

1. Two men in a sexual relationship with a lifetime commitment.

2. A man and a woman in a sexual relationship without a commitment. (outside of marriage)

3. A man and a woman in lifetime commitment without a sexual relationship. If the situation exists due to events beyond the couple’s control, there should be no guilt. However, if both parties are healthy, Scripture instructs a couple not to abstain from a sexual relationship for any extended time.

3The husband should fulfill his marital duty to his wife, and likewise the wife to her husband. 4The wife’s body does not belong to her alone but also to her husband. In the same way, the husband’s body does not belong to him alone but also to his wife. 5Do not deprive each other except by mutual consent and for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control. 1 Corinthians 7:3-5
