With our very own’s recent infamous lines, beauty contests will possibly have this stigma attached to it. But come to think of it, there are contests like that of http://www.lookoftheyear.com which is the latest way to get recognized without having to speak to the world over. With winnings to the tune of $10,000. For those wannabes, go check it out, you just might have what it takes to make it to be the Look of the Year.

I had no clue whatsoever what paper tablets were, until I was told to take my medications gradually starting late last month in small doses to the required daily amount. The doctors had to desensitize me of sorts to the medicine/s that I was allergic to. I got hospitalized last month from the life threatening allergic reactions I had, brought about by the medicine.

And yesterday was the day! After taking the last dose of the paper tablets, which came in from .5mg, 1mg, 2mg up to 400mg (I took in 30 minute intervals each), I first felt my eyes heavy and I checked from the mirror, indeed my eyes were bloodshot. It didn’t take long until my temperature soared to 38.5 degrees Celsius. It was horrible. I was again shaking from chills and no paracetamol would tame my fever. Right from the beginning, I was given instructions what to do in the event that I won’t be able to tolerate the medication despite the attempted desensitizing process and after taking the anti-allergic meds, I was out and slept until I felt so hot I was sweating profusely. I was no longer as lethargic.

During all those years we had to move from one place to another, we have always hired the services of the moving companies. It is just the most convenient thing to do, not to mention the safest. We were blessed to have gotten a moving company that has hired people who are professional and really good at what they do, despite the bulky items that we have. No word of complaint even when we had to transfer stuff up to the third floor and then going back down to finally transfer to our new home. Yes, we hired the same moving company since.

 

 

vanline_move.gifThese days some have more than three vehicles and have practically outnumbered the number of available drivers in the family, then there goes the challenge, especially if moving from the old house to the new location will be a long distance. This is where car shipping companies come in. They provide families with state of the art carriers that are able to ship many vehicles at the same time. This will prove to be very convenient to most families in this situation.

I intended to stay within hubby’s arm’s reach for full twenty four hours since he came back from Tarlac last Friday, and that I did. We first planned to leave the little guy home when I had to go check with my doc in the morning, but decided to have him tag along since this is the only day he could be with his father and won’t get to be with him until the second week of camp comes to an end this coming Friday. I was telling my mother yesterday, before my temperature broke into fever (I became rather paralyzed then- blog on this later) that I was so waiting forward for July. By then, I will be done with our lock in period with our current broadband provider. We are considering a combo package. It will be nice if there would be a promo to call Long Distance Free. I could really make use of it now. I just stumbled upon 3longdistance.com, which is a site that I could go to and figured I actually don’t have to wait for July to make that call. :-)

The pictures the hubby showed me spoke for themselves. I am so jealous and it saddens me that I had to stay behind again this year. I will have to stay healthy this year so there will be no more medical reasons for me to be left behind for next year’s camp event. Hubby has told me tons of stories, especially those of the challenges from preparation to the pack up day. Toxic. One word to sum it all up. I’m amazed he has everything it takes to take everything in. God’s grace, nonetheless. Praise God that He say him through it all.

 

Contrary to the first report in one of my previous posts, they actually rented eleven buses this year! And that’s only for the first week. It’s good that bus companies of these days give out a list of accident/life insurance rates for the camp management to choose from, which covers each person who rides their buses. I remember back in the days when I used to be one of the campers, there wasn’t any. We’re actually going forward and it’s good.

 

Praise God for the 222 professions of faith out of the 575 who attended last week’s camp! :-)

Both me and our little guy are thrilled to welcome back the hubby! He is actually here and he looked extra handsome when I saw him right outside our door, but he also looked a lot thinner too :-( I figured it could be the stress. Our son would not stop jumping with joy upon the arrival of his father to the time he got inside the house. From our garage he would shout with so much joy and call me, “Mama, Papa is here! Papa is here!” (I can’t anymore count the number of times he shouted with glee)

 

Of course, I know it would only be a couple of days then he will have to go back to Tarlac and get on to oversee the second week come Monday. The first thing that he handed me is his loads of dirty clothes one of those neat custom t-shirts that they give out at camp. I hope that we will be able to maximize our time with him today, for tomorrow he will have to preach the whole day. What we could actually apply here is the delayed gratification of the “Marshmallow Test.” After all, when he comes back from Tarlac, we will soon be off to Baguio. Woohoo! :-)

I have tried to tolerate, but I can’t anymore.  Hence, this post. Ever since I first went seriously blog hopping late last year, I have come across a lot of blogs with writers mixing up LOOSE vs. LOSE. You see, you have to give it to me that it actually took me four  months to finally have this blurted out. I would tend to give the benefit of the doubt at first sighting of the misused word and consider that it was nothing but a mere typographical error. But that allowance will go straight down the drain upon seeing the misuse of the same word, the second time. I can say that I have become tolerant. Understand that I feel it a responsibility for those of us who are in the know to remind others who are confused by these seemingly interchangeable (not!) words. Read the rest of this entry »

When people come to me and ask me if there was anything in my previous jobs from the corporate world that I ever miss, I just give them a smile and tell them that they are not missed but merely remembered. I will never exchange everything that I have now for anything from my past or any potential riches that I might have had from any of it.

One of the better things that I recall was learning to trade foreign currencies for the clients that I used to have. It was hard enough to get them to invest $10,000 but the challenge is have the investment yield from the volatility of the foreign exchange market. I had to watch out for the market if it’s going bullish or otherwise before giving the clients advise on whether to buy or sell their positions. It can be exciting! As we celebrate our abode’s very first year today, we are reminded that first of all, God is faithful. The second thing that came to my mind is stewardship. As a family, how are we doing as stewards of what He has entrusted us.

One year ago today, all we did was relish the newness of our new home, the busyness of moving homes got the better of us on most days but after a while it all dawned on both the hubby and me that even as we had our house contents back when we were still renting apartments insured, we should all the more avail of a home insurance now that we now call this place our own. The planned date was April 10. But because the finishing stage really takes up a lot of time, the turn over was delayed to another week, which was not bad. April 17, 2007. It just occurred to me a while ago that our house is turning one year old today and I praise God as I remember that every good and perfect gift is from Him. This house is a testimony of God’s faithfulness. For any person who has seen us struggle from the years that passed would definitely attest to this. He is Able to do exceedingly and abundantly, far above all we could ever ask or think. All glory and praise be to Him! :-)

I was confined in the hospital, with my mother as my company, when Pacquiao and Marquez had their fight in Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas last March 16, Manila time. I remember my mother getting all ablaze over the whole fight, while I was knocked out and would doze off in between fights.

 

At 62, she is just so full of energy over such a sport. It fascinates me big time. I was just talking to her this morning and she was really thrilled to report to me that up to now Dela Hoya is still fighting at his age. My dear mother would just go on and on about the fascinating place Mandalay Bay is. She was just there last year and she hopes to go back and visit again this year. I’m sure with the boxing fanatic my groovy mother is, she would grab ahold of those Mayweather vs De La Hoya tickets in a heartbeat when she gets the chance. Read the rest of this entry »
