About the Author:
Jed Zachary Aspacio was born in Makati, Philippines in 2005. He was 10 years old when The Chronicles of the Plantoids: The Great Revival was published. He’s been homeschooling since he was 4 years old. He devoured on books around the same time and finished reading The Lord of the Rings Trilogy at the age of 7. His favourite authors are C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, Peter Lerangis, Rick Riordan and Eoin Colfer.
My husband and I were thrilled even as our 10 year old guy announced in time for my birthday last week that he’s finally done with his book. For weeks, he withheld us from looking over his shoulder on what he was typing away. He only allowed us to read the Prologue and that was it.
The idea of our homeschooler writing a book was purely a challenge I threw at him a couple of months back when he asked what gift I wanted for my birthday. For someone who’s been reading junior novels since he was 6 years old, he’s moved on to reading New York Bestseller series and books by great, world-renowned authors, I casually asked if he thought he can come up with a book like one of his favorite reads. He answered, “Maybe.” He simply said okay when I asked if I can have the book for my birthday gift.
Yes, we’re proud folks of this creative 10 year old boy. But we were nonetheless surprised as we read through each chapter. I was towards the second chapter when I felt my heart race and found myself delightfully anticipated what’s coming next. It was also amusing how came up with the character’s dialogues. One thing for sure, those witty jests were so so Jed. 🙂
