5 Romantic Destinations in Australia

I’m sure you all know that being a working mother makes it hard to find time to spend with your partner. After you’ve picked up the dry cleaning, made sure the kids have done their homework and cooked dinner, sometimes romance is the last thing on your mind.

But I’m sure you also all know that even the most loving parents need a break. That’s why I’ve come up with a list of 5 great romantic getaways in Australia. Home to some of the most unique and beautiful natural resources in the world, Australia has many ideal places for a romantic getaway for two. Maybe you found love in Canberra, a city with hidden gems, but you’re into quiet beaches, picturesque wineries, or getting up close and personal with Australia’s unique wildlife. Whatever you’re into, I hope you and your partner will enjoy this list:

Daylesford, VIC

Quaint, quiet and quintessentially Australian, Daylesford is the perfect getaway, especially if you can only get away for a weekend. It is home to many beautiful and relaxing spa resorts, where you and your partner can indulge in massages, reflexology, shiatsu and various spa treatments. Located about 115 kilometres northwest of Melbourne, it’s the ideal escape, especially for those on a budget.

It doesn’t matter whether you’re a couple with 20 years of marriage behind you or you’ve just met on eHarmony – Daylesford has something for every couple.

Byron Bay

Byron Bay is known for its beautiful beaches, scuba diving, and laid back atmosphere. It’s somewhat of a hippie town, with lots of alternative, holistic and natural shops, restaurants and places to stay. Watching the sun set over Byron Bay is one of the most romantic memories I have. Make sure you visit the famed Byron Beach Café – the views are simply spectacular.

Barossa Valley

The Barossa Valley is the wine capital of Australia. You and your partner can do a tour of one of the many local wineries that showcase some of the finest wine in the Southern Hemisphere. Snuggle up together by the light of the wood fireplace in one of the many rustic resorts that surround the wineries.

Great Barrier Reef

What could be more romantic than spending time exploring nature with your loved one? The Great Barrier Reef is one of Australia’s most incredible natural gifts. Stay in one of the beautiful beachside resorts in Cairns, or explore the neighbouring islands in the Whitsundays. Go scuba diving and marvel at the immense coral reef.

Daintree Rainforest

If you’re the sort of couple who enjoys camping and being close to nature, then the Daintree Rainforest is for you! The Daintree area is so secluded and remote that it makes it perfect for the ideal romantic getaway. From hiking through the lush rainforest to bird watching, the Daintree has something for everyone – and it’s incredibly beautiful! Make sure you check what season it is before you embark on your journey – the rainy season is roughly between December and April every year.
