It was back in November 2008 when my husband and I first attended our very first homeschool conference. It was one of the steps that we took as we were preparing our family’s venture into “formal” homeschooling. Since I believe, homeschooling for us, has practically started from the time our son was a baby.
That homeschool conference reinforced our hearts towards this alternative education, as future parent educators to our then 3 year old. We officially started homeschooling our son the school year following that 2008 Philippine Homeschool Conference. The handful of testimonies that were played during the conference, one of which was the testimony of Tim Tebow‘s life, who was homeschooled, played a major role for the hubby to encourage me that despite my feeling inadequate, our family will be able to successfully make it by God’s grace. Four years since and we will still feel as strongly, if not more strong now about homeschooling than we did back then. We have been using the School of Tomorrow curriculum. You will read more of our homeschooling journey via ChristianHomeschooler.info.
This year’s Homeschooling Conference is themed “Laying a Strong Foundation.” It will feature lectures from esteemed homeschooling authorities both here and abroad including: noted inspirational speaker, best-selling author and homeschool parent, Bo Sanchez; and former high school and college educator and best-selling author of award-winning books like “Ultimate Guide to Homeschooling,” “Ultimate Guide to Homeschooling Teens,” and “Ultimate Planners for Moms, Teens and Students,” Debra Bell. The Philippine Homeschool Conference 2012 is happening on May 19, 2012 at 5/F St. Francis Square, Julia Vargas Avenue corner Bank Drive, Ortigas Center, Mandaluyong City.
