sick.jpgI am definitely having a hard time keeping up. I know I shouldn’t be complaining because this is what I chose to do for a living. But when you’re not physically well, it is really hard to function normally. Five of my other websites needs serious updating and I can’t get down to doing it. It would be the coolest if there was some kind of cyber technology that automatically translates our thoughts we want to write straight to our websites! That would be wishful thinking, I know. ;-) Read the rest of this entry »

gift.jpgDear hubby has been asking me for weeks now what I want for a 7th wedding anniversary gift. I honestly cannot think of any. I really appreciate the quality time that we have been regularly spending together, even if it means we have to sleep in the wee hours of the morning just telling each other random stories and just spend time together. This post is a week late. T’was a busy week for us and even as I know I should be sharing more than just photos - this will do for now. The weeks to come will be a tad busier with the hubby officiating a wedding and some anniversary preparations and trip we hope to make in the next couple of weeks. So please pardon my short posts. Family comes first. :-)

I have always made personalized gift tags for Christmas right from the time when the hubby and I were still engaged. That’s more than seven years ago! I have made one early this month but decided to revise it and use another picture for the tag.

And whoever said I am so excited for Christmas! Now I seriously have got to do some shopping very soon. :D

We officially welcome the holidays this weekend. With that in mind, I created a digiscrap family gift tag that I will use this coming Yuletide season, which I will post in a few weeks. I have not done any shopping yet, with the crazy virus taking our family down this past three weeks, I know I have got to stick to my signature cookies.

But then again it was just timely that I came across this collection of gifts by Canadian designer Sande Chase which includes handmade boxed gift ensembles. I don’t know about you but there will always be something about the packaging that makes receiving gifts especially sweet. A well thought of packaging reflects how the giver has given a part of him/herself with the gift. I even heard that some even refuse to open the wrapping because of the presentation, I have done that a couple of times and I swear I just had to keep the package and wrapper until I grew tired of it! It was just too pretty to throw away. :-) It is safe to say though that this is more common to women than men. But then again, you know you are going to have to open the gift any way because you have to know what’s inside, right? So you open it slowly and lovingly. This is often the Sande Chase effect.

If you would love to look into giving extra special gifts for any occasion especially this holiday season, you might want to check out Oh la la Cadeau. They ship all across Canada and the USA via UPS (no duties paid through the borders for orders under $200). You will surely love their classy designs. Gifts that are perfect for the women that you love.

Taken a couple of days back when the hubby saw our son making silly faces while he was drinking his milk from the cup. He loves playing pretend (sad, happy, angry, et.al). This time he was experimenting with frowning while raising his right brow and then the left. It helps that I always have our camera within reach. I wasn’t even able to properly set the camera correctly, I just had to click away. :-)

cleaning-lady.jpgI hope to be able to get a replacement for my weekend cleaning lady. She has been sick for quite sometime now, some skin allergy issues which made her unavailable. I tried to get the services of someone that was recommended by a neighbor but I was not pleased. The cleaning that she did in my little house,  I can do a tad better. Read the rest of this entry »

The Old Schoolhouse® Magazine is having an amazing sale on subscriptions during their annual Black Friday Sale November 26 – 30. For those 5 days only, they are drastically reducing their one-year subscription price to $7.95! That’s the price you would usually pay for just one issue at a bookstore! This is their lowest price ever on the magazine and they want all of you to take advantage of this offer and share the info with your friends.

Please don’t miss out. Your one-year subscription will pay for itself time and time again as you receive practical tips and Biblical encouragement to keep going strong in your commitment to homeschooling and to the Lord. Since it’s a quarterly magazine, they even have a monthly subscriber’s only E-Newsletter called Teacher’s Toolbox that will give you seasonal teaching ideas and a free E-Book download! It’s like joining a unit study of the month club! The free E-Books alone are valued at almost $250/year. It’s really perfect for people who are homeschooling on a shoestring or just wanting to add in some little extras to your teaching. Read the rest of this entry »

homeschool.jpgThe homeschool convention that we attended last Saturday was such a success that we are actually considering to homeschool our son longer than just the preschool years. There are a whole lot of benefits and almost zero downside to it. The socialization aspect is going to be immaterial since we will enroll our son in a once a week get together with fellow homeschoolers. That would be a big comfort for us not to have to get him to unlearn unnecessary things that students pick up even from the most Christian of schools, if you know what I mean. At least until he is done with the formative years. Read the rest of this entry »

I consider myself blessed that after all the amount of exposure my eyes have had to a pc since I was in grade school, I am still sporting a perfect vision. With my current average of twelve hours a day in front of the computer, I know it’s going to be a matter of time until I should need to wear glasses.

I will surely consider the popular online eyeglasses shop when that time comes. Read the rest of this entry »

Regressing? The little guy started sleeping in his own bed at two years old but lately he’s back to the family bed because of the flu. It was the most convenient for all of us because the hubby and I would alternately give him sponge baths to manage his temperature. Read the rest of this entry »

We have pre-registered last November 6 and we are thrilled to be a part of this conference. We are basically sold out to the School of Tomorrow curriculum and we are already inclined to go for this when we formally start homeschooling our son next year. Somehow I just really need to look into this conference and be able to defend why SOT is still better. Having said that, I will still join the group with an open mind. Knowing in my heart that this group probably just about has the same agenda as SOT.

This will be this coming Saturday, November 22. I am very hopeful that by then, my sweet baby is well and has recovered from this viral thing. I have pre-arranged with my dear sister for her to care for him just for that day. :-)

Losing sleep for at least three days now is not making me recuperate very well. We’re currently managing the intermittent fever of the little guy (with sponge bath, Propolis Gold and occasional Paracetamol) and his Pedia said that it will be at least three days that he is going to be like this.  He is doing so much better than I did when I was down with the flu last week.  For which I am very grateful.  :-) Read the rest of this entry »

It is definitely going to be a White Christmas for my folks this year. We’re happy for them. These past few weeks my sister and I have been contemplating what we would do for the holidays. One thing is for sure, we will miss papa and mama this season. We will see them shortly after Christmas is over and we have to make sure everything is set for them back here. Maybe I could get one of those coffee makers for a welcome present for papa.  I still don’t know what to give mama.  We hope we could all leave town when they get here and spend time with each other.

stethoscope.jpgIt was almost 4 in the morning when the little guy and I finally were able to sleep. Two hours before that, I checked him in his bed and felt his skin a little too hot than usual. Suddenly the digital thermometer that I just slid into the drawer minutes before had to be retrieved to help check my son’s temp. To my surprise he was doing 39.3 degrees Celsius and I got into the frazzled mode in an instant. He took on the virus that I just got off and am just starting to recover from. I felt so bad! :-( Read the rest of this entry »
