As soon as I left the workforce and joined the ranks of the hands-on, work-from-home folks, my leaning has always been to be proactive in choosing the healthier option. This has further intensified when we became pregnant with our son in 2004. I can clearly remember, that in my refusal to come in contact with anything toxic that could harm my unborn son, I concocted my very own household cleaner with a base ingredient of tea tree essential oil. That spray bottle might no longer be around, but it has since branched out to a lot of healthier choices for our family.
It all started with a spray bottle.
Some of the offshoot of that all-natural spray bottle effort are: my All Natural Homemade Baby Wipes, Homemade Organic Household Cleaner, Homemade Laundry Detergent. I haven’t blogged about my essential oil-based concoctions that a lot of our friends and loved ones vouch for, my castile soap recipe and a few more I also got too busy to blog about. We sure have come a long way in this quest to try as best as we can to become better stewards of our health. Our health is God’s gift to us, our stewardship of it is something that I strongly believe we cannot be passive about.
The first step to being healthy is to keep our hands clean. We made sure we have instilled in our son is hand washing, and if washing is not possible in the event that a lavatory is not available, hand sanitizing. Our son may be 11 years old now, but the need to keep his hands clean does not change. This holds true for every member of our family.
But to be honest, because of all the years that I’ve read on health, for the benefit of our family, I don’t just take any brand’s word for it. I make sure I always read the label.
Our family’s latest health partner find is Belo Baby! Yes, Belo Baby made the cut in our books. We love Belo Baby Hand Sanitizers for these reasons:
- Kills 99.9% of germs and bacteria
- It has glycerin that moisturizes
- Mild fragrance that leaves skin fresh (be wary of strong scents, they sometimes pose harm than good!)
- Formulated WITHOUT Triclosan, Parabens, Belzankonium Chloride, Quats, Glycols, Chlorine, Formaldehyde carriers, Petrochemicals and most common allergens.
- Hypoallergenic. Dermatologist-tested.
Belo Baby Hand Sanitizers come in Green Apple, Peach and Blueberry Scents. We love the Blueberry variant!
The health controversies over triclosan, parabens and all the above mentioned ingredients that are usually present in hand sanitizers, including petrochemicals are enormous. Petrochemicals alone, which may also be known as phthalates, may also be present in isoprophyl alcohol. Phthalates alone has been scientifically proven by the U.S. National Library of Medicine National Institutes of Health to be Endocrine-disrupting chemicals. Isoprophyl alcohol introduces a kind of fluke in the human body. This kind of alcohol was originally designed to disinfect things inside the factory, the surrounding, never the human body. This explains why it irritates our air passages upon inhalation, not to mention the danger it poses, being highly flammable. Don’t just take my word for it, Healthline highlights Isoprophyl Alcohol poisoning has its official statement on this.
This is precisely why we love brands like Belo Baby. It truly is “Crafted with care for the most delicate skin, for the most meticulous moms.” Speaking of meticulous, if that’s not me, I don’t know who is. Haha! We mommies have got to do our homework. Nurturing takes hard work. Yes we can count on our God-given intuition a lot of times, but doing our homework will not just reinforce our conviction, it can also helps us come up with a very educated decision, making it easier for us to convince our left-brained husbands. Haha! 🙂
The love that we have for our family is what springboards our mommy hearts to not compromise. Thank you, Belo Baby, for coming up with Belo Baby Hand Sanitizer! For more on this newly-launched product, visit www.belobaby.ph and follow them via @belobabylove on Twitter and Instagram.
