Nestled on the slope of the Mountain in the Uson Barangay part of Caibiran Municipality on the east coast of Biliran Island is Canaan Hill Farm And Honey Garden – our last leg of our Organic Agriculture Eastern Visayas farm tour last month.
Why Canaan?
The name was derived from the place in the Bible where God promised to His people “a land that floweth with milk and honey” Leviticus 20:24.

As we see more and more farms operating organically, I’m all the more impressed at how hands-on ATI Eastern Visayas of the Department of Agriculture is and proactive in making sure the advocacy lives on in Eastern Visayas. The growing number of farmers transitioning to organic farming is a testament of this. Hats off to ATI and e-Extension, for making this possible. I dream of the day that organic produce won’t be as scarce and as pricey as it still is to this day.
