My son and I went on a date last Friday and we experienced for the first time, the biggest outdoor cinema at the Globe Iconic Store in Bonifacio Global City. The HOOQ Hangouts Pre-Halloween Treat featured Monster House, an Academy Award nominee for Best Animated Feature horror-comedy produced by Steven Spielberg and Robert Zemeckis.

Steven Spielberg is still at it! My son’s first Steven Spielberg movie was Jurassic Park and I love how this well-loved and celebrated artist is still very much into his game.

While Monster House is an entertaining movie with a moral lesson to boot, the movie is still tagged as PG, for its scary images and sequences. There are also occasional crude humor and hints of sexual tones. It is always wise for parents these days to preview movies and be there with their kids as they watch. We are responsible for filtering what we can out of the already very desensitized culture we live in. The moral of Monster House is that we should not be quick to judge people. In a society with standards dictated by our culture, we often find ourselves condemning and concluding things of people we hardly know.

HOOQ for Kids

From TV series you can watch same day as the US, such as Supergirl; to having five decades worth of Filipino content, HOOQ is set to triple it’s library of child-friendly content in the last quarter of 2016.

HOOQ inked a new set of partnerships with the biggest names in family entertainment: Nickelodeon, Nick. Jr., Kids Like Us, Hasbro, Turner and MoMedia to bring some of the most popular kids titles into HOOQ’s catalog. “HOOQ is committed to delivering premium content for everyone in the Filipino family, and this includes entertainment for kids. This is why we are expanding our library to have over 500 hours of kids’ content over the next few weeks.”

Soon the younger kids can watch animated series such as SpongeBob SquarePants, Dora the Explorer, Go Diego Go!, PAW Patrol, Littlest Pet Shop, My Little Pony, Mr. Bean and more on their parents’ mobile devices or tablets. Fans of HI-5 and iCarly will also be able to revisit their favourite episodes on the series.

“We are well aware that home viewing among young families is largely driven by children, and this addition of this huge chunk of family friendly content truly makes HOOQ a video service that caters to everyone whether they are looking for Hollywood, local content for themselves, or something fun that the kids can watch. Now every member of the family can enjoy their own favorites across multiple devices at anytime,” adds Cruz-Walker.

“HOOQ’s continued efforts to widen their library of content means our customers will get to enjoy more content perfect for the whole family. The addition for more kid-friendly titles means kids will be able to fully enjoy their mobile experience through entertaining and the same time educational content,” adds Globe Senior Advisor for Consumer Business, Dan Horan.
