As a happy homeschooling family, I cannot emphasize enough the value of knowing the dynamics of homeschooling. We’ve been happily homeschooling since 2009! It’s hard to believe that we’ve been homeschooling for 7 years now. Wow! Where has time flown?
The first homeschooling conference we attended was in 2008. It was right around the time that I was a wee bit insecure about treading the then unchartered waters of homeschooling. It didn’t help that we have some professional teachers in our circle of influence talking us out of it and listing several reasons why we shouldn’t. While I totally respect those who traditionally school their children, we just happen to strongly believe the Lord has called our family to take this road. That conference got my husband and I teary eyed even as we listened away to Pastor Peter Tan-chi, while the Lord confirmed in our hearts that this really is it. We go back to that time like it was yesterday, very vivid and affirming.
Eight years forward, we aren’t going to have it any other way. We have a well-rounded 11 year old young man for a son. He may not be all bright and shiny, like any regular developing pre-teen but he’s strongly grounded where he should be. He also authored a juvenile sci-fi when he was 10 years old. The book is available on Amazon: The Chronicles of the Plantoids: The Great Revival. He’s currently working on its second installment. I believe he’s now working on Chapter 5. He also contributed to Kerygma’s All Stars Magazine Aug-Sept 2016 Edition.
Yes, we are proud of parents of our homeschooler! To this day, we feel it was the Lord’s gift to us that we were led towards this path.
If you happen to also have an inspiring homeschool story, PHC invites you to share. Three (3) lucky winners will be given two (2) free passes to the PHC 2016.
One of the many things I love best about homeschooling is that I witness first hand, my son’s progress, being the primary caregiver and teacher of who used to be my little man. Oh am I able to go on forever with all the anecdotes we have through our years of homeschooling. It remains, indeed, a sweet privilege.
Now allow me to give you five MORE reasons why you should consider attending the 2016 Philippine Homeschool Conference:
For the Philippine Homeschool Conference 2016, this year, HAPI, in cooperation with Philam Life, is setting up the PHC to be even bigger and better than before. Happening from 7 a.m. (start of registration) to 6 p.m. on October 22, 2016 at the SMX Convention Center, SMX Aura Premier in Taguig City, the PHC 2016 bears the theme “From Roots to Wings: Homeschooling through the Stages”. Hoping to meet the needs and address the concerns of homeschooling families at different stages – from learning more about homeschooling, getting started, and staying the course perhaps even up to the end of high school.
PHC 2016 Kids’ Activities
There will be various activities for children of all ages should participants want to bring their children along to the Conference. These activities will all take place in the Expo Hall. Parents need to make sure, however, that their children are with a trusted adult at all times. HAPI and Educating for Life will not be liable for any untoward incident that may happen to your child during the event.
Fees, time slots and descriptions for these activities are as follows:
Corresponding Fees for the Activities:
Children can choose their activities for a fee of P500 per activity. Parents can also choose to bundle the activities (except the toddler play area, which is P500 for the whole day) with the following rates:
Choice of 1 activity – P500
Choice of 2 activities – P900
Choice of 3 activities – P1200
Choice of 4 activities – P1550
Materials for the activities (except the crochet lesson, where participants will purchase hook and yarn separately) are only for borrowing during the activity. Each child can only register in one Challenge Island slot to give other participants a chance to enjoy the activity.
