A Parent’s Influence

I took a plastic clay
And idly fashioned it one day;
And as my fingers pressed it still
it moved and yielded at my will.

I came again when days were past
The form I gave it still it bore
And as my fingers pressed it still
I could change that form no more.

I took a piece of living clay
And gently formed it day by day
And molded with my power and art
A young child’s soft and yielding heart

I came again when days were gone
It was a man I look upon
He still that early impress bore
And I could change it never more.

It is going to be an early “spring cleaning” for me this year. Although we don’t exactly have the season in this side of the world, we still call it as such. Force of habit. My assistant and I were sorting our books in our library. Turns out I still have a stack beside my workstation. Magazines, parenting books that I have had for years. I was sorting through them when I saw this handout from the Homeschool Conference we attended last November 2008. We are hoping to hold a garage sale next week.:-)
