‘Twas indeed a wonderful time at Canon’s Risshun

The hubby and I were invited to Canon Risshun A Spring of Delights Event held in Blue Leaf Piazza Venice yesterday.  We have been Canon users for many years now and we are most eager to have a look see at their new products. Our now phased out (but still working) PowerShot A620 is in need of replacement.

The theme Risshun, which means the first day of spring, cannot be more apt for the occasion. For Canon Philippines, Risshun is the beginning of more wonderful things to come. It’s the promise of positive developments – a strategist for a new president, a fabulously new headquarters, and a powerful line-up of new products.

First, Canon introduced its brand new President and CEO Mr. Alan Chng. Alan Chng brings 30 years of extensive experience and in-depth knowledge on the imaging industry to his new position. In his most recent post as vice president for business imaging solutions in Singapore, he was responsible for the solid growth of the division in the region.

“I look forward with great enthusiasm to my new assignment as president and CEO of Canon Philippines,” said Chng. He vowed to further strengthen Canon Philippines’ product offerings, portfolio of services, and relationships with dealers and customers.

“There are tremendous challenges and opportunities here in the Philippines. With the help and support of all employees and vital stakeholders, Canon Philippines will remain on top and will continue to expand its market share in the country,” he said.

Second, Canon Philippines announced their relocation to their new headquarters at the seventh floor of Commerce and Industry Plaza, Campus Avenue corner Park Avenue, McKinley Hill, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City to better serve customers and partners. The Canon Business Imaging Solutions Showroom also transferred to the ground floor of the Commerce and Industry Plaza Building where customers can readily view and demo Canon’s wide range of business machines.

Third, is their announcement of yet another powerful line up of new products, some of them are:

EOS 550D

  • 18 megapixel APS-C size CMOS sensor with new photodiode construction and gapless microlens array for high quality, wide dynamic range and low noise images
  • Flexible, high ISO, lower noise – 1 stop higher, 100-6400 (H: 12800), 4 levels of noise reduction, ISO speed limit can be set for Auto ISO (Creative Zone modes)

EF 70-200MM lens

Since its introduction in 2001, the EF70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM has been the high performance telephoto zoom lens of choice of professional and advanced users, indispensable in applications ranging from photojournalism to sports photography. This year, Canon announces the replacement of this stalwart lens with the EF70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM, designed with greater performance, higher quality optics, and hardy construction to weather tough conditions in the field.

Canon digital compact cameras integrate high performance and impeccable style with the brand new Canon IXUS models: (IXUS 130, IXUS 105, IXUS 210 and PowerShot SX210 IS)

For point-and-shoot convenience, Canon’s latest additions to its PowerShot Triggerhappy A-Series digital compact cameras are hard to beat: (A490, A495, A3000 IS and A3100 IS)

One of the products that was launched, the hubby was blessed to have been called during the raffle to receive.  Thank  you Canon Philippines! 🙂
