Help, Please! Is There Anything We Can Do vs. EZNet-Hosting.com?

It was when the hubby and I came home Saturday night when I first noticed that MarriageandBeyond.com, which is hosted with EzNet-Hosting.com is down. All the while I thought it was a temporary glitch brought about by the sudden unreliability of EZNet-Hosting.com, wherein which this site is hosted. Imagine my dismay when I saw that their site was down as well. Things in my head came into play. All the what ifs you could possibly think of. What if their server was hacked, etc. Jeff checked the “who is” tab to know if it is still registered with the same person a certain Dale character with the email address dalem01@ntlworld.com. The same person we transacted with when I subscribed to their one year hosting service last January. It is still under his name. We decided to give it a day until we will have this site propagated to my husband’s unlimited account with HostGator.

What happened with our hosting with EzNet-Hosting is too frustrating for me to feel anything else since. I paid them last January 2009 in good faith for a hosting service to last a year. After a day and the site is not still up, I knew we have got to decide. It was later affirmed when I cannot even access the control panel of my site. We also found out from the “who is” button that EzNet-Hosting.com is not registered with the same person anymore. That is less than a day since we last checked when it was still with dalem01@ntlworld.com. That’s as easy as letting us know that we’ve been had. If the site was hacked, then all this information below would have been opted by the new owner to be concealed by paying a minimal amount to set his “who is” to private.

All this time, the Lord is testing my faith. As I recalled, I knew I did back up my files, but it was around a month ago. True enough, when I checked, I did perform a backup on first week of June. For sometime I was at a loss for anything that I will do. I was just grateful enough that the Lord allowed me to back up when I did. Otherwise the damage could have been worse. Like losing all close to 1,400 articles altogether and that is not a small thing. When I put up this blog, I never had a clue that it was possible that I could keep my entries in a private setting so as not to be tagged as duplicate content. Naturally, I deleted the original postings from my Multiply page and manually migrated everything here.

I am not surprised why my blog entry on my disappointment over EzNet-Hosting.com over at www.jenaspacio.com is getting an unusual number of visits coming from different countries. From January to April 2009, EzNet-Hosting.com’s service was impeccable. My husband has been with them since last year. Their excellent service naturally got me to recommend their hosting to my friends, one of which is Mhel of Marikenya.com. It was around the end of May when there were a couple of times that MarriageandBeyond.com was not accessible and with no warning from them as well. But my site went back live after a day.

It is just hard to believe how they EzNet-Hosting.com could live with themselves as they do this to their clients. They could have at least given us a heads up that they will not be able to maintain the service anymore. If that was such a giveaway, they could have “suggested” to have us back up our files because they are going on a maintenance mode of sorts. Nothing! If you don’t call that cold blooded scammers, I don’t know what they are called. I wouldn’t have minded about the outstanding time that they still have to serve this site. They just took away everything from us, their subscribers, just like that. Without a warning! Aside from all those articles and images I lost, Jeff lost three of his sites. Totally. He never performed backup and a couple of them are income generating ones. ๐Ÿ™

This site is up because of the help of our dear friend, NeilMaranan.com. Although the uploaded files were not updated which is because the last time I performed a backup was June of last month. The most recent post that was uploaded is dated June 5, 2009. Although you see some more recent files now, I was able to get access to that via Google Chrome’s cached copy feature. So I was able to post less than ten articles from that. That lessens my tasks to around 20 give or take, from articles that I wrote from June 5 to July . I also lost all images from January to June of 2009.

This is the part where I ask for advertisers and readers alike to please bear with me. If you are not able to find concerned posts, please know that I will be working on them. That should take me a month to a couple of months, the most. Given that the entries that were not included in the backed up log are around 30 to 40. As for the images that you will not be able to find in blog posts within January to June 2009, I will try to squeeze those in from time to time.

This blog contains all the milestone in our family life since 2005. Aside from the fact that I will have to answer to my advertisers, I know there should be something more we can do than just let this thing go. My concern is not to retaliate. My intention is for them to answer for what they did. People cannot go on playing tricks on other people with these kind of schemes, whether big or small and just get away with it. To tolerate this will only encourage more people to do what they did.

If there is anyone out there who has an idea what we could do from our end? While it is true that this clearly affirms the need for all webmasters to backup their files every so often, this is something that no blogger should ever have to go through. What is our protection against the kind of deception EzNet-Hosting.com has done to us? Is there anything we can do at all? I will really appreciate your input and suggestions. Thanks in advance. ๐Ÿ™‚
