We spent this day at Ted and Rose’s place in Mohawk Street, Marikina. It was a lazy and fun day with family who are also friends. We were content. We took our barbeque stuff to their place and grilled the traditional family chicken recipe. We have done this at our folk’s place the previous years and it was the first time we did it at a different place. It was fun.
We also watched a video after lunch. We then decided to go back to barracks and spend media noche here instead. So we are back here. As usual, dinner will not be complete without our photo taken. π
I have come to understand that “media noche” pertains to midnight dinner, usually celebrated towards the last hour of the year. Per tradition, this is done to symbolize hope for a prosperous new year. I cannot recall a time where we really were strict about gathering around the table come midnight. We were probably all too lazy to gather up. We do it out of the ordinary. Just the usual dinner time with family and that’s it. We are now spending time together. Some are doing their set via Magic Sing and the rest like me are just enjoying the entertainment, welcoming excuses to stop from time to time , whatever it is we’re doing whether blogging, net surfing, working their way to that next recipe playing “Ratatouille” via PSP, or eating, to just laugh together and talk about stuff, silly or not. All throughout, munching our way to welcoming 2008. Got our sliding windows shut already, smoke from fireworks are getting thicker by the hour. Jed now is currently doing his rendition of “Hey Jude” singing and at at times doing the beat via his new year roll up horn (“torotot”, Jed calls it “tororot”). Yup, just for tonight, I will allow him to stay up. It won’t be fair to get him to bed while he hears all of us from across the room that we are all having fun. He’ll get back to his routine tomorrow. π
We praise God for a great twenty o’ seven and we welcome the new year with even greater expectations. We pray to be better stewards of our time and the life that He continue to graciously gift us with everyday.
Lamentations 3:22-23 “Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; Great is your faithfulness.”
A very happy and blessed new year to family and friends the world over. Especially to new found friends who I don’t just consider virtual. I am really thankful to have been so warmly welcomed. God bless you more! π
