Having an inquisitive three year old kid can sometimes be stressful for a work from home mom like me. But I knew that I have got to get around this issue somehow, taking care not to put a halt to a child’s hardworking mind. This is why parenting tips like those of Biblical Parenting, really come in handy.
I pick up some tips and customize it to fit how my son’s personality and figure out from the output if he is responding positively or otherwise. I love this ride to motherhood. It must be one of the most rewarding roles ever.
One of their more interesting topics is working on definitions with my son. The best time for learning is when the child’s mind is open, just like when he is in his ever inquisitive mood or even during times when he is trying to figure things out, playing with words.

True, one of my recent posts got us all set for a no summer getaway. But can you really blame us if we take advantage of an airline promo? As a result, we are officially booked for Bora this coming June. Yes, June. Just in time before we blast off to the real deal –homeschooling.
Now that the airfare is taken care of, the next deal is to look for a good place to stay in, although a free hotel stay wouldn’t hurt. I wish! We will be there for four days. We are thrilled to go back to where we spent our honeymoon more than seven years ago, this time with our li’l tot in tow.
Here’s when I ask for suggestions. We really could use a cheap but decent accommodation. We stayed in Pearl of the Pacific during our honeymoon in 2001 and we learned that we don’t really need a fancy hotel room because we only spent time inside the room for a few hours, just to sleep. We were almost always on the beach, gallivanting through and through.
We would really appreciate any input and suggestions. It has been almost eight years since we last visited Bora. “Talipapa†was still standing during that time. We will sure be surprised with all the progress. I even heard there already is a mall! I cannot imagine!
Our supposed “No summer getaway” might just about turn out to be the most exciting summer ever!

It has been a good five years since I started web blogging and with four domain babies that I currently have, I can say that I am more than just enjoying it. My first blog entry was posted in one of the free Baby Journal sites, then I shifted to a social network site. It was in that social network site that I have done blogging –full blast.
Marriage and Beyond was the first domain that I claimed. After four hours of looking into parenting/marriage related domains, I almost gave up until I found peace in the domain Marriage and Beyond. I claimed it at around 4 A.M. and the other domains came all in from like the same sudden surge of inspiration and vision.

The hubby is the most athletic 33 year old that I have ever come across with. He always feels sluggish and gets tired easily whenever he misses his workouts at Marikina Sports Park. There is just this need for him to go run miles. He comes back refreshed and energized. For that I admire him more.
Remember my quest to being healthier this 2009, which defines that I do my part of working out even via my ever reliable game console? I have quit for a month now. I just cannot get myself to go back to the exercising routine. With the schedule crammed up, there is just no way I could squeeze it in. I know it is so easy to find all the excuses in the world. Maybe I really have got to do some soul searching especially about this matter. I remember feeling so much better, physically, whenever I do my workouts. My back is starting to hurt again like before.
But before that, I think I have got to pull the hubby again to get me a pair of running shoes. For some reason, whenever we go to sports depot, I just won’t find the pair that suits me, or atleast the one that I would really like to wear for some time. I think my tiny feet look awful when I try on bulky shoes. Read the rest of this entry »

While it is true that we really cannot prevent stress from creeping into our everyday lives, there are things we can do to manage them. As a work from home mom, I have both full time careers to take care of. That doubles the responsibilities that I already have and a “Me Time” is but a necessity, to somehow keep me from losing sanity. Believe me, it’s tough work. Especially now that I am to figure out how things should work when school year starts for the little guy.
I love massages and with the stresses that I am exposed to on a daily basis, lines showing up here and there are but inevitable. Once in a while I treat myself to self conducted microdermabrasion. Read the rest of this entry »

Our family is going to tread another milestone and boy are we excited! We are happy that our son will have the best education and have it right from home. For those who have just recently stumbled upon this site, we will have him go through School of Tomorrow’s curriculum. We have heard a few detractors about this kind of set up but we will figure something out and have him meet fellow homeschoolers during weekends.
There are a lot of things to do and there is no way to do this by cramming. I have got to get myself oriented, for one. Although the hubby has attended the administrator’s training a few years back (which is practically a license for him to set up his own school), we still have got to know the dynamics of homeschooling. This can be the most exciting time yet for our little guy.

Last week, the hubby and I planned to go to The School of Tomorrow headquarters to inquire about the dynamics of preschool homeschooling that we are about to start with our little guy very soon. Sad to say, we were not able to do that. But we did accomplish a handful of other things. So we are just going to take it easy on ourselves and just reset the whole plan to this coming week.
The truth of the matter is, a lot of things are lined up for this milestone that we are about to tread in the next few months. We are more than thrilled but the preparation can be really something. I have got to pick up my working gloves on and spin the house around to make it homeschool friendly of sorts.
I figured some things have got to go. It is nearly impossible to get an exclusive corner without having to shuffle things around. Good thing, I have kind of gotten used to that, that I can actually say I’m an expert at it already. :-)

It has been a while since I last did a wedding. I love weddings! Everyone who has been reading Marriage and Beyond knows that it is one of the things that I am really passionate about. I still have my box full of records of everything about weddings, my suppliers for flowers, wedding invitations, beauty experts and what not.
I remember this one time a couple of months back, I was deep in thought if I were to stash them all away altogether. It just occurred to me that maybe the numbers that I have of my suppliers have changed contact numbers and for someone who is not very fond of storing things that are not of use anymore, I considered throwing it all away for a time. But then again, I changed my mind. Read the rest of this entry »

The issue of finances weighs heavily as one of the major concerns in a marriage. Even statistics have it that a lot of marriages break apart because of financial problems. As for our marriage, we have decided right from the beginning that we will keep a unified account that will represent what’s ours. Nothing like what we had when we were still dating. Marriage binds us as one and whatever we both earn separately goes to a single account — defined as ours. This is our stand and believe it is but biblical. It is included in the premise that we are not two but one. We have seen a handful of marriages crumble and it all leads back to how they handle their finances. This is especially true that majority of households all over the world are double income ones.

Last night was the first time in many weeks that the hubby and I turned on the television and primetime news was on. Apparently, March is Fire Prevention Month. While we were busy in our respective workstations, I cannot help but feel bad for the mother who lost all her four children to fire. Horrible, to say the least. I just had to pause and whisper a prayer her way.
It just bothers me somehow that as much as March was coined to be the fire prevention month, how come that fire accidents is in its all time high. And we are not even done with half of the month yet! Apparently, there are a handful of commercial establishments that went down to fire as well in the previous days. Read the rest of this entry »

Jed was two months old when this photo was taken. I used to give him a bath in his trusty blue green baby bath tub until he was almost a year old – atop the kitchen counter, beside the sink.

This one was taken just before I was to give him a bath when he was three months old. This time, from my folks place. That is my father’s hand supporting my cutie pie and that is my folk’s kitchen sink on the background.

Play and bath time in a real tub since he turned two

We just got home from the Detour, Island Cove Adventure! Guess what?! Our team won! You could only imagine my dismay when my name was called when all six team leaders were called up front early yesterday morning, in the dining hall of Sangley Point in the island. I swear I would have drove home fast, if only I brought a car with me. Â We did not. We rode alongside fellow bloggers in vans provided by the island resort. A post coming up about the event.

As fun as I know it is going to be, I am so threatened by the fact that I am no way qualified to join the race. This Detour, bloggers’ adventure that is going to be held at Island Cove in Cavite tomorrow, obviously is a physical game and I am no way fit to join the pack. I don’t know what happened. But for some reason, at least three pounds have been added to my weight, when I checked today at the hospital where my sister is confined. This explains my clothes failing to fit me like they used to.

This morning, when I was window shopping for Kohler sinks online, mama called to inform me that my younger sister is scheduled to have her operation tomorrow at 7AM. I covet your prayers, dear readers, for my dear sister. The schedule was originally set for the 17th, but the pain that is caused by her adenomyoma has become too much to bear.
We found out that those nasty growths have leaked, from her doc’s visit yesterday. Pain medications refuse to work since last week.
May the Lord guide the doctor throughout the procedure and my sister’s body to respond well to the medications during the operation.
It is actually her birthday today and it looks like she will be spending her birthday confined in the hospital. We are hopeful things will turn out well. Happy birthday still, dear sis! We love you and we’re with you, praying.

After having made the big switch and now that we are two months in, we are definitely satisfied with the service of our current internet provider. There really is no reason to be stuck if there’s an alternative that will provide better service. Except that in the previous years there was really no other option for us from the internet offers and we refused to go back to a dial up connection.
