“What does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul?”

This is the message I sent to the universe at OperationImmortality.com which, according to the site will be archived in the Immortality Drive being sent into space in October, together with all other messages posted before the end of August this year.

I chose this motto, which you can check using my message ID which is 471, because this is the truth, uttered by a great man named Jesus, who claimed, both directly and indirectly, claimed to be immortal and to be God. He was tortured and killed for these claims but His resurrection backed His claims and the world was never the same again.

By His grace I try my best for this truth to be witnessed in my life. Having chosen a profession based on a calling and not on any other temporal reason I try to live this truth and encourage others to take a step back and look at their lives in light of this truth.

Proverbs 31:30 “Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.”

The world loves beautiful people and many people would do anything to become one of them. In Asia, our country, the Philippines, is the number one market for whitening creams according to some report I saw on the television a few weeks ago. The rise of many beauty clinics that offer whitening services, cosmetic surgery, warts removal and facial services show the great demand for beauty services. More and more people are finding ways to improve their looks and their self esteem as well through these methods.

Not to say that wanting to look better is wrong, but too much of anything can be dangerous. My wife uses products that make her more beautiful and I appreciate her knowledge in that (she even has a blog about it) and I myself use some products that my wife introduced to me. So there is nothing wrong with desiring beauty.

However, there is something more important than outer beauty. I believe that every person, not only women, should focus first on the inner beauty or what is in our hearts. In 1 Samuel 16:7 it says that “the Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” More important than getting the approval of the people around us is the approval of our Master. Having a mindset that we live for the audience of one can radically change the way we interact with people and the way we look at ourselves. Just some thoughts to ponder on.

Almost a week has passed since our Baguio trip. We are most thrilled having been able to getaway from our usual routines. But we are more thrilled that we were able to travel possibly a total of 500 kilometers (to and fro) aboard our trusty old car which honestly requires more than just a dent removal procedure.

A couple of days back the hubby handed me a Suzuki leaflet with quite an affordable downpayment and monthly schemes. Seriously with the way things are going with our finances. Being down by health and medical expenses, plus a lot of bills to pay and have settled, it is just not happening in the near future. But it sure is something to pray about even as the hubby got his legs wet again when it rained yesterday. It usually pours as well on his side of the car when it rains hard.

This next two weeks starting Monday, I’ll be gone to Capas, Tarlac for our summer youth camp. It will be a very busy two weeks as I’ll be overseeing the 600-650 delegates from different churches each week (April 15-18 and 22-25). We are praying that participants who don’t have a personal relationship with Christ yet would make decisions for God this next two weeks. Also, we pray that those whom God is calling to serve as pastors or missionaries would surrender to God in this youth camp. Read the rest of this entry »

“The meaning of the resurrection is a theological matter, but the fact of the resurrection is a historical matter; the nature of the resurrection body of Jesus may be a mystery, but the fact that the body disappeared from the tomb is a matter to be decided upon by historical evidence.” – Wilbur Smith

Resurrection

Today many Filipinos and other communities around the world that have some knowledge about Christianity commemorate Christ’s resurrection. And as majority of the world’s population throw many arguments about who this influential and controversial Man who claimed Deity while He walked this earth more than 2,000 years ago, about His death and about His claims that He would be raised from the dead, one thing that is undeniable is the huge amount of evidence available to provide illumination for skeptics who are sincerely seeking answers. A lot of people, even those who many would consider religious, do not see the Bible as relevant and practical. That is why Bibles, in many homes, are found covered with dust or are seldom touched. Many families do not see the importance of or any benefit from engaging in group or personal Bible Study. Read the rest of this entry »

Many people consider the Bible as an old book; outdated and irrelevant to our changing society. But most people who have this view about the Bible probably have never sincerely and accurately investigated its claims.

The Bible claims itself to be written by men inspired by the Holy Spirit of God, thus, God’s word. It is not any particular religion, group of people or any man who made this claim on the Bible. The people who wrote the Bible Read the rest of this entry »

Around this time last year, I remember the fun hubby and I had going from one home depot to another looking for fixtures needed inside the house. It was a time we will always remember. A few months before that we went to different housing agencies hoping to get a great deal on some foreclosed properties. But it turned out the Lord has got something better in mind for us.
