Scrapbooking is one of the things I have always wanted to get my hands on but never really had the chance to get around to doing. That is, until last weekend when All About Scrapbooking and Hallmark got us to our feet and challenged us to get in our artsy-craftsy mode.

The closest I got to scrapbooking was when I got some photos printed in books via Arts Cow and my wedding album recovery attempt.

All the stuff we needed for scrapbooking were provided for us during the Scrapbooking workshop. We were told to bring photos that we could use for our “projects.” So I brought with me the photos I got printed last year to replace the ones that we lost to Ondoy.

Although we were told before hand to think of a theme that we could work our project around, I really had no idea. Browsing through my photos got me to one theme, our son. A child in the family, or children, for that matter can easily be the default for a mom like me. But I figured since I have already a digiscrapped book printed with my son in it, I’d have this particular project on me and my husband, Jeff.

Admittedly, I hardly am the most creative person I know. While I love all things beautiful, I haven’t really gotten my hands on into advanced craftivity (if there’s even such a word) like Scrapbooking. Although, my being a homeschooling mom forces me into doing simple crafts, I haven’t really put considerable time on something this grand to consider myself half adequate.

But what do you know? I made it! We were given all the necessary stuff we need. The pattern for the butterfly flaps of the book, the instruction, embellishments and everything else.

While my project leaves a lot to be desired, my painstakingly working on it to be perfect, browsing through the photos, just soaking on the love I have for this person I am doing this for, I realized what the entire essence of scrapbooking after all is to dedicate time to the object of who you are doing the project for as you document memories through this art of scrapbooking.  Because, clearly, Scrapbooking isn’t something you can work in an instant. I was so giddy when I was done with my project that I was so thrilled to see the hubby that night and show him my surprise. It has been a while since I last did something special for him. We used to be lovey dovey in this artsy kind of way when we were still dating. But whoever said that it all has to stop in marriage?

This was our other project for that day – a pop up scrapbook photo holder. Looks complicated, eh? But the not so artsy me was able to pull it through. I made it myself! Of course, through the step by step instruction of the beautiful people of All About Scrapbooking and Hallmark, who I wish to thank for stirring in me a love for Scrapbooking.

I don’t know about you, but there are just days that I call “telemarketers days.” They seem to just call in the most unlikely times, when I would be occupied with work or some tasks that I have to rush up with deadlines. And what’s worse is they would call in saying the same things, such as offering me cash advance from my credit card or even free supplementary cards. I know they are just doing their job, but I just can’t help but be annoyed sometimes, especially if calls would come in one after the other.

 

It does not help much to have a caller ID, because you would sometimes wonder “Who’s Number Is This?” whenever the phone rings. And think it just might be a relative or someone you need to talk to, so you end up answering anyway. Some people can solve this headache by having their telephone numbers registered to the No Call List Information. This will prove to be effective in removing your number in any database, blocking unwanted phone calls like the aforementioned ones.

Home security facilities have never been as promoted as it is now. For one, we need all the protection that our family can get. The hubby and I are currently figuring out how we could turn the house around to welcome our little guy’s study table and the hubby’s executive desk. We were recently told by Teacher Ninang Ana of our son that our little guy should have his own study table even as he is now towards his pre-school years. I know it’s going to take incredible talent to do this in our 48sqm. floor area.

These projects though will have to come after replacing our major bedroom furniture – our six year old bed. I have met a few accidents with the makeshift stand in the middle that the hubby made out of his barbell to keep the bed standing. Plus the springs from that old mattress have begun spiking on our backs for sometime now, calling out its retirement. Because of the urgency of this task, the home office furniture has to wait.

I stumbled upon an easy to navigate furniture site FurnitureFromHome.com and their site appeals to me more than other furniture sites. First, because theirs are just easy to use and go browse around in. Plus, their images are just the right size that fits two or more images in one screenshot. This is a biggie for me even as I have this nagging habit to compare until I get convinced into getting the best deal. They regularly conduct auctions in America and Canada. I don’t profess to be an artist, but I know art when I see one. I love beauty and the fact that these collections add a story to a place, whether a house a diner or an office  creates a character unique and all its own.

Ever since we got our house built I have always wanted to get a new set of living room furniture. We have been looking into furniture shops inside the malls for the perfect set, but it was only now that I realized that I wanted something classic. The classic elegance of the browns is timeless and it would perfectly complement our living room’s design.

 

 

One of the site’s real deal is their storage bed. I just love the way it is built to function as a place to store stuff. It is my first time to see such design and I am seriously considering taking in this design even as the current bed frame that we have been using for six years now has lost its middle leg. The storage function of the bed will really come in handy even as our house does not have that much space.
