For someone who has coordinated wedding for years, an invite for the We Heart Weddings event came really close to home. But as much as I love doing weddings, my schedule can no longer accommodate the task. The most that I could do nowadays is a consult. I love my current “jobs” to drop them and go back to coordinating.

The unforgiving heat has probably been one of the common things we all can relate to, aside, of course, from our various thoughts about the recent elections, at least in this side of the world. Mid May has come and the heat sure hasn’t dwindled a notch. Relief from it is something we all can make use of and Max’s Restaurant has recently come up with the perfect indulgence – Max’s Giant Halo Halo!

…for lack of a better title. The song just keeps ringing in my head even as I was concluding this post.

The hubby has been crazy busy nowadays taking care of several things. The upcoming 7th anniversary celebration of SBC-Makati and the missions trip they are leaving for in less than a month, among other things. Alas, the forgetful person in him would often unleash himself uninvited. Ack! He’s so much of a process person. And we recently figured out (yes, it has been troubling us so much, wondered too long that we just had to sit down and talk about it), that it is possible that all that he needs to do cannot keep up with his pace on how he process things. Confusing? I think not. It totally makes sense.

The hubby and I were invited to partake of a dinner hosted by Marina Oysters Seafood Grill last week with a bunch of other food bloggers. Marina’s oysters, which they are known for, are flown fresh from Iloilo daily. So they guarantee to serve only the freshest of oysters. With oysters being their specialty, I was quite thrilled to see an array of dishes in the buffet table with different kinds of oyster dishes. I have always had a big appetite for oysters! The good ones, that is. I have had my share of not so good ones in the past, all of which are not worthy blogging about. So, I’m moving on…

Do Hard Things conference is an event where teens and parents gather to learn the biblical foundation and practical outworking of the Do Hard Things mentality—that doing what’s hard is a key to growth.

The main speakers of the Do Hard Things conference are twins Alex and Brett Harris, also authors of the book of the same title, and their dad, Gregg Harris. The Harrises were scheduled to come to the Philippines on June to speak at the conferences but due to an unexpected condition of Mrs. Sono Harris, the twins’ mother, they cannot commit to leaving her for a long period of time. Their mother was diagnosed with an advanced stage of colon cancer.

It has been over a month since the hubby has been busy taking care of arrangements and schedule for his team’s missions trip to Africa. It is just neat that there are a handful of options now that the internet has been tapped by a lot of traveling agencies. After brushing through the district of Makati where most embassies are, he was finally contacted via email by the person who can help him out with what he needs. All the while my husband thought there was no physical embassy he could go to locally, specifically for that trip.

After the horrendous traffic the hubby and I had to put up with going to the Microsoft event last Thursday, I knew I had little choice but to beg off on the events that I was set to go to during the weekends. A lot of major streets are closed to traffic, we had to be re-routed to another street, just to end up getting a stage blockage with an ongoing miting de avance. There is no denying the election hullabaloo.

The heat has been extra unforgiving these days! The El Niño phenomenon is making an extended stay.  It has taken its toll on my health lately. I wasn’t able to work the whole day yesterday because I was too weak from heat exhaustion.  I was also having stomach trouble that drained me off my electrolytes supply.

The hubby and I are praying that we will be able to conceive soon. I am already 33 years old and if it is God’s will for us to have another child, then it is going to happen. If it’s not, we’re okay with that too. But with that thought, we figured it is just wise to get ourselves checked if we are healthy enough. Especially so that I miscarried twice after I gave birth to Jed. After a few tests, I was cleared by my obstetrician. Now, it’s really up to us if we will move on to further tests to investigate what could have caused the blighted ovum and the miscarriage of both pregnancies I had in 2006 and 2007.

One of my father’s brother passed on last week. Although he has been sick for sometime, it still does not make it easier for the loved ones. If there is anything about death, it is something that we can never be ready enough for. But it also the one thing that is sure to come to us sooner or later. Our prayer is always that it will be the latter. Always. Praying that when it comes, our loved ones, even ourselves had lived a full life. But even then, we still won’t be ready enough.

Last Wednesday, April 28, 2010, I attended an intimate event with the beautiful ladies of Elianto Philippines, together with 5 other beauty and lifestyle bloggers at Kimono Ken at SM North Edsa. It was fun chatting (I mostly listened) and hanging out with these sweet ladies. :-)

As a mom, I know so well how easy it is to take ourselves for granted given all the overwhelming tasks we have to take care of. While motherhood, no doubt, brings about such wonderful, priceless moments, it can get pretty crazy sometimes. It’s not all bright and shiny everyday, to say the least. This is especially true if you choose to be a hands-on mom. The dynamics of motherhood is immense and the natural default could easily be such that you have everything taken cared of except yourself.

May 2 is World Bloggers Day. Wow! Bloggers have really gone a long way since.  My blogging journey started in 2004 via Babababies.com when I first learned that we were pregnant. I used to do the old school diary when I was younger. And I couldn’t go right back to that when I cannot anymore find those journals I have filled through the years.

Web blogging was the answer to my wanting to have every milestone of our journey towards parenting recorded. Online journal won’t rot, tarnish and yellow and they will look the same through the years. I later moved to Multiply and in the late 2007, claimed the domain for Marriage and Beyond. Our purpose for blogging since evolved to just recording milestones, to monetizing websites, to ministering to others as we share bits and pieces about marriage, parenting and everything in between.  Here is the 2005 Archive of Marriage and Beyond. This main site since gave birth to a host of different sites with their own niches.
