My thoughts on the shooting in Newtown, Connecticut

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom;
all who follow his precepts have good understanding.
To him belongs eternal praise.” Psalm 111:10

I remember reading with Jeff a book by Steve Farrar entitled, “Standing Tall” in 2005, when we were still pregnant with Jed. The book was a gift from Jeff’s sister, Sheryl. I think it is one of the books we lost to Ondoy. But I am reminded of its contents when I heard about the news, when I woke up, of the shootout that happened in Connecticut.

In a nutshell, as far as I can remember, Steve Farrar’s book is a challenge to fathers and the nation, where he expressed about America’s fear of God in its earlier times was the one key that brought it to the top. I remember Farrar even pointing out the history why “In God We Trust” is embedded in the dollar currency, to begin with. Even quoting former godly president, Abraham Lincoln in a few instances. Now it is easy to see that Christianity is not even socially acceptable anymore. We really should not be surprised because America is practically giving evil the upper hand by taking God out of the equation.

Apparently, during these times when God is taken out of our schools, when praying is already prohibited, we are actually inviting our children to bring not just slide hammer puller, guns and violence. It is a godless generation America is nurturing.

I just had these thoughts as my heart bleeds for those children and families hurt at the shooting in Newtown, Connecticut. Praying for God to comfort each and every one of them.
