JIVE Youth is the youth ministry of Sumlong Baptist Church – Makati. The official site of JIVE Youth has been up for some years now. But we weren’t able to work on the site as much. Last Friday, as one of the youth leaders submitted yet another article for publishing, I was inspired to work on its promotion by creating its very own fan page on Facebook. The family and I will be attending an event in Market! Market! early today for the launch of the online fundraising campaign of The Mind Museum. I have looked in it and it is said to be the Philippines’ first world-class science museum. I am just thrilled that I can tag the little guy along with us. Just like we did during our Zoobic Safari Adventure last week. This homeschooling family sure is enjoying the perks of blogging. It’s just like we’re having a field trip when we do this. We can always make use of the experiences and incorporate them in our lessons.

Wyeth sent me a can of Wyeth’s Progress Pre-School Gold and a Healthway card for mother’s day last week! Thank you Wyeth!
Committed to helping mothers raise healthy children, Wyeth’s Progress Pre-School Gold now goes beyond providing superior nutritional products by offering superior medical care as well. Working together with Healthway, the joint project aims to provide families increased access to quality maternal and child healthcare services.

My husband and I first reconsidered getting a helper to assist us around the house last year when we first jumped into the homeschooling grind. But as I later went on adapting to our home schooling schedule, we held that thought in and pushed it back down until now, a year later.
Truth be told, I could really make use of a help, being the lone person who takes care of the house, home school my son, while I work from home (as a virtual assistant and blog for a living). There are days that I get pretty overwhelmed and the busyness gets the best of me, which shouldn’t be.

The hubby and I had to cut our respective post paid lines with one mobile network. It was the first network I ever subscribed with, dating back from 1997. I was with them 10 years and they only proved to deteriorate in their service, despite the various new offers they give out to clients, new and old. We finally said our goodbyes when we knew we have had it with all the charges from nowhere in our bills. That is, after six long months of following up on the reversal of the charges. I don’t know how other clients put up with them. But I definitely know a bunch of people who have switched to the competing network with the same sentiments as ours.

This is the time of the year where premiums have been paid and the next we have to prepare for are the school expenses. The next homeschool curriculum that our family is going to use for our son is School of Tomorrow’s ready to read program – ABCs with Ace and Christi. Our son will go through this curriculum for approximately 3 months and he will be off to first grade from there.

Last Sunday we celebrated our local church’s 7th anniversary! SBC-Makati has come a long way since it started. As a church family, we are continually praying for God’s leading towards the property that we hope to transfer to. We have a great God and nothing is impossible with Him.

When Alex Dizon had us sign up for a whole day event in Zoobic Safari, I knew I just had to grab hold of the opportunity for a learning experience for the little guy. Since our son has been blogging for sometime now, he also gets to sign up.
Nevermind if we had to wake up earlier than usual. It was something all of us (and not just our 5 year old tot) looked forward to.

The event coincided with the launch of Zoobic Safari’s newest attractions: The Zoobic Cave and The Forbidden Cave. The Zoobic Cave is a taxidermy museum. Real stuffed animals are showcased in this cave that mimics the natural habitat of exotic animals, complete with waterfalls and a pond. The Forbidden Cave took us through a forest with two waterfalls, a shaking hanging bridge and real aetas spitting fire.

The hubby has been telling me he’d make it up to me before he leaves for Africa. How he’s going to do that, I have got no slightest idea. I keep reminding him that he’s said this before when he got too busy with the youth camp preparations. My love language being Quality Time, cannot take so much of busyness very gracefully.

I think my system has finally kicked off the cold bug I have had for months. It did not help that I don’t get to prepare our kefir shake on a daily basis. I know I ought to do it on a daily basis especially so that those babies (grains) grow like crazy in this kind of unforgiving weather that we have.

Last Sunday, in between church services, I hopped into the Expo Mom 2010 Bazaar in Rockwell to take a peek at their ongoing campaigns. I specifically went to listen to the talks of Mommy Jen Tan of MomEx and the actress Mommy Dimples Romana on time management – It’s Time to Unlock the Secret to Your Child’s Success.

Too cute! This is one of my photos of our little guy while we were touring around Zoobic Safari. My post about our adventure will be up soon. I’m still looking through the close to 1,000 photos I took from that excursion. I’m in the process of editing and resizing. If I could share all the photos here, I would.

Last night, I had the opportunity to be one of the first ones around the world to see Shrek Forever After (The Final Chapter) at Eastwood Mall’s 3D Cinema since the Philippines is ahead in the US by 13-14 hours. It was a truly great experience because of two things – the movie and the venue.

For someone who has coordinated wedding for years, an invite for the We Heart Weddings event came really close to home. But as much as I love doing weddings, my schedule can no longer accommodate the task. The most that I could do nowadays is a consult. I love my current “jobs” to drop them and go back to coordinating.
