This just in. After more than a month of waiting, the mail with the good news finally arrived!!!! I am one thrilled wife, to say the least. The hubby took the Mensa Challenge last February 27 at Fully Booked. He was told that the result will be received regardless if he made it or not, in a month’s time or so. The hubby wasn’t around when I opened the mail. I was out of myself, with shaky fingers as I struggled to tear open the envelope. It was when I saw the word, “Congratulations!” that I was able to catch my breath – relieved and thrilled.

It was a couple of weeks ago that the hubby and I considered buying a second hand 2004 Altis instead of buying a brand new car. It’s way cheaper for one. We really could make use of a better car than the 1989 hatchback we’re currently using now. Its being submerged during theOndoy flooding did not help its already ancient state. So much repairs are needed to be done and it has dented so much of our savings already, that the wisest thing to do is just have it replaced altogether.
The very first home appliance purchase the hubby and I had as newlyweds was an Electrolux vacuum cleaner. I was one overwhelmed housewife, to say that least. I grew up with a nanny and later an all around helper in the house. This is the norm of two income families in our country and it does not necessarily come with a “well off” premise. I always knew how to cook, bake but not so much when it comes to doing the laundry, ironing and cleaning department. The overwhelmed me got down to purchasing our very own cleaner helper via the Electrolux vacuum. The rest, as they say, is history.
Nine years into our marriage, we have sailed on beautifully in the household arena with but a few challenges. Yes, we have stood through our decision of being helper free. Save for the once a week cleaning lady that I hire to do some general cleaning, but that’s it. If I was just a plain housewife, then that wouldn’t have been such big a deal. But I am not. Aside from being the queen of our abode, I also homeschool my son and then work from home via web content writing and virtual assistant jobs and cover some events too. Truth be told, I’m not having it any other way. After having had a helper ever since I can remember. It is just bliss to have the privacy that we enjoy now. But this kind of crazy lifestyle isn’t for everyone. It did take a while before I was able to device a system that worked for me. But if there’s anything essential for those who can relate it is this – the household gadgets and appliances!

It is no doubt that the Pre Valentine Treat that we had at Old Vine and Kuse last month was one unforgettable dinner. This is why the hubby and I were most thrilled when we were invited back this time to have a sampling of their Alfresco Treat wherein all drinks and pica-pica are sold for 30% off. This offer is from Monday to Sunday at Old Vine and Kuse in The Venice Piazza, McKinley Hill, Taguig City.

I have enjoyed reading Intimacy Ignited, Conversations from Couple to Couple, as soon as I held it. Finished 5 chapters in one sitting and then I got too busy with our son’s graduation and my online tasks. But just to give you an idea, this book embarks on a verse by verse exploration of the Bible’s very own manual on sex and passion: the Song of Solomon. The couples vision of this book was for married couples to discover freedom, holiness and beauty of sex in marriage and learn why it all begins with a servant’s heart.
Having been confined at least twice in The Medical City (TMC) in the last five years, I took quite an interest when I was invited last Thursday, March 18, 2009, to witness the reinvention of the Women’s Health Care Center.

Our little guy just graduated from preschool early this month. Now that it’s summer vacation, the hubby and I are choosing what summer classes our son could attend wherein he could nurture his talents and skills and have fun while at it.
National Geographic Channel announced their very first Earth Day Run which will be held on April 18, 2010 at the SM Mall of Asia. The Earth Day Run 2010 will feature 3K, 5K and 10K races.
The hubby and I are celebrating! The online campaign that we have been doing finally paid off! Not exactly paid yet. Pay out is not until next month. But learning tiny bit of tricks here and there got us to want to venture into leveling up from what we are currently doing to exploring the rest of the horizon, which used to look so blurry.
If you have read the article in the current issue of Good Housekeeping magazine, you would have read a handful on how we make money online. While I do it in a full time basis, the hubby does when he has free time. Which is not very much.
Monday is our family’s favorite day. It’s usually the time that we go out to spend time together because it’s the hubby’s rest day. But being a no drive day for us, if we have to at all go, it has to be within the time that the number coding is lifted and then we’re stuck where we are until 7PM. So the default place to be for us would usually be a mall, where we could choose to do a handful of activities.
I initially had my doubts when we first learned that the next food event the hubby and I were invited to was to a Chinese restaurant. I was pleasantly relieved and eventually got really curious when Rowena of Animetric.info told me that this is NOT like your ordinary Chinese restaurant. Most Chinese restaurants are notorious for using Monosodium Glutamate (MSG) to their dishes. However companies disprove that MSG’s being bad for one’s health, my body tells me otherwise. Migraine strikes almost instantly as I consume food with this spice.

The hubby and I visited the Lopez Museum and Library last Saturday and it was one interesting experience. It was eons ago when I last stepped foot on a museum and now that we are a homeschooling family, it is in our must go to places list.
The “After the Fact” exhibit at Lopez Museum literally got us thinking what’s behind the title and Ms. Iday Marpa, the museum’s admin support/assistant, readily indulged our many questions. The After the Fact is based on the questions “What and how did we do?” “Then what?” The “After” in the title being, the gesture to summon to establish lineage and recollected past from the exhibition ensembles. The concept behind the theme encourages us to look backward and forward at the same time. The tour was a memorable one, to say the least. It got us to appreciate the rich culture of our nation all over again and I will be most thrilled to bring my son to this museum in one of our scheduled “field trips” in this upcoming school year.
