Venice Piazza at McKinley Hill

The Venice Piazza‘s ambiance and perfect scenery shouted out an extended anniversary celebration for the husband and me. Upon alighting the service vehicle we rode in, we were instantly moved to behold the majesty of the Venetian inspired place. This, despite the fact that only a number of shops are actually operational.

We were first given a taste of the hospitality of Little Asia (Symphony of Flavors) and Mr. Charlemagne Lim, the restaurant’s president made sure that we had a grand time. It was a first for the hubby and me to taste Little Asia cuisine and this much I can say, it’s nothing like your ordinary oriental dining place! The very first thing I did when I sat down was browse through the menu and despite the elegance of the place, the selection of foods that they offer are surprisingly affordable!

I can’t believe our marriage is turning 8 years old in a couple of days! We tied the knot on Dec 8, 2001.  Here is a link to our love story. I cannot claim to have a perfect marriage with my ever dashing husband. That’s just highly unlikely in such a selfish world that we are all in. We’ve also had our not so good years. In fact, it took a special couple to mentor us to have us where we are right now. They were not just mentors but they also served as living examples of what God intended marriage to be. It took us a while to shape up. We were young and selfish, we made mistakes along the way but it was through the journey that the Lord molded us to the people that we are right now.

I cannot imagine myself not married to Jeff. When I look back to my single life, I realized that I practically threw it all away by being in all the wrong relationships. The void that I felt in my own family back then drove me to look for love and affirmation in all the wrong places. Although I was not spectacular, I have always believed that I have a good head on my shoulders and although I may not be as stunning as those who ramp the catwalk, I did have my share of admirers, a pretty good bunch of them, back during my single years. Now I can only hope I had someone who had walked me through my youth back then.  Which brings me to two of the things I am passionate about, intentional parenting and mentorship.

My little guy does not cease to amaze me with his ways. Here he is ever ready to tell the story of his more recent favorite movie, UP.

He isn’t just getting savvier and savvier when it comes to his cognitive and fine motor skills, but he is also becoming more imaginative and creative. When dear husband was making me my office table a few weeks ago, Jed was on the side with his own sets of toy tools. Read the rest of this entry »

I so love this time of the year! Ever since December stepped in, the cool weather breeze has been giving us more reason to be jolly. The weather is always at its best around this time of the year. I remember even having a cooler temperature around first week of January last year in Manila what they had in Texas, where my folks where during that time.

We attended yesterday, December 4, 2009, our very first Annual Homeschoolers Christmas Fellowship over at Philippine Christian School of Tomorrow in Paranaque City.  It was a huge school. I heard from the hubby that it was formerly a Japanese International School.  If only we live close by, then we won’t think twice in enrolling our little guy in this school if and when we’ll graduate him from homeschooling.  What’s important is they’re using the same curriculum that we want for our child.

My folks house now looks spanking after the post Ondoy makeover. They used to have Narra plywood over their walls but they were compelled to renovate the whole place after the flood. There was just no other way to make the house livable again.

Wanting more or the desire to have more causes a great amount of conflict in families. George Gallup says that the number one cause of arguments in families is family finances. Sixty-five percent of all marriages argue about money.

Why do we always want more? It isn’t the money itself. It’s what we think the money will bring. We think money will bring three things.

LIES:

1. More satisfaction. All the advertisements tell us that. If you have more, you’re going to be more happy. The problem is your yearning will always exceed your earning.

Ecclesiastes 5:10 “Whoever loves money never has money enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with his income.”The desire to acquire just keeps on growing. So it doesn’t bring more satisfaction.

2. More significance. We think, “If I have more then I’ll be more important. I’ll be more respected. I’ll be more powerful. I’ll be more admired. I may even be more famous. I can afford all those status symbols that prop up my ego.”

The hubby and I was invited to the launch of Chocolate Walnut Fudge with Hershey’s Dark Chocolate, a premium selection cake by Red Ribbon. When they said in the media invite that we were to indulge in a 5-star dessert, I had no clue what exactly was in store for us and here’s much I can say, we sure did indulge! I have not loved another cake as much as I love Red Ribbon’s Chocolate Walnut Fudge! I am a true blue chocolate lover, dark chocolates, to be exact. So that’s probably what blew me away.

As I’ve previously mentioned in a post I wrote last year, unlike most girls I know, I am not particularly fond of receiving flowers as gift from my dear husband. It did take a while before my hubby was able to understand and grasp this odd thing about me. But whenever anyone else would give me flowers, I don’t mind and actually appreciate it but not if it comes from him.

Posts were live from Nov. 27,  but importation of contents from their previous free hosted site wasn’t quite done yet until December. I have been blogging since 2004, so even though MarriageandBeyond is still practically a baby, its contents traces back to four years ago,  which you guys will find in this site’s Archive.

When I first heard about Phiten’s rakuwa bracelets, May of this year, I just had to go online and research on what it is and what it does. This bracelet may look a lot like your regular sports bracelet but I was surprised to learn that it goes beyond just the aesthetics. So I was intrigued when I first read about its ability to help the human body maintain a balanced and relaxed state by influencing, restoring and balancing bio-electiricity in the body. So I went, bio-what? At first, all I thought of it was nothing more than a marketing fad. That is, until I tested it myself.  Not being quite convinced, I road tested it a few more times after, just to make sure they’re nothing short of coincidence.

Canon Philippines rocked the house as they welcomed the brand new month with a party for media people, held at Merk’s Bar in Makati.  I’m sure no other digital brand party could top this one! Canon Philippine’s well loved President and CEO Mr. Ramon Arteficio gave away a host of SLRs, digital cameras, video recorders, printers, et al.  Canon is one generous company! No wonder people are loyal to this brand.
