Hi Jennie,

I was inspired reading about you juggling to be a WAHM. I am considering it too once I have kids. At this moment I'm increasing my work skills so that I can be a WAHM. Thanks for the Lemongrass juice recipe. I love lemongrass flavour and its time I started drinking its juice too! and wow, it has that much health benefits??? Thank you for sharing!

we serve lemon grass juice as complimentary drinks to our guests at la cocina de tita moning (the resto where i work part-time). our gardener grows tanglad in the garden in front of the house. i researched about tanglad before and learned it has lots of medicinal properties.

as for your being a WAHM, i think you're doing great. keep it up! when your kiddo gets to read your blogs in the future, he'll surely be prouder of his parents. :)

Wow! I've loved lemongrass for years and love to see it tossed in whatever Chinese dish I'm ordering. But it's that healthy, too? Who knew?

Hi Cascia! Check out these links for the recipe:

Working from home really entails putting together some skills in home and family management. There are good days and there are not so good ones. But the key really is to device a system and I so agree with you when you say about performing best when the kid is sleeping (either afternoon nap or at night). I really take advantage of that time.

Thanks so much for stopping by and your sweet affirmation. God bless you! :D

I've never heard of the health benefits of lemon grass. How do you prepare it? You boil it right? Do you have a recipe? I might have to try that concoction.

I understand completely what it is like to work at home and be a mother. I am the same way. I usually take some time out to work, then take time out for the kids, then take time out for chores. It is hard to juggle everything. I found that I am performing my best at work tasks if the kids are in bed and I am in my room with the laptop and the door shut. Time management is challenging. I try to make time for everything.

Great blog, by the way!

I work partially from home. Some days of the week, I have to report to our office. But I do not have to go to the office five days a week for I was given the privilege of working from home. And I share the same sentiment that it is difficult separating work from home life when you are in the confines of your own house with kids tugging at you, asking for your time. I am also still in the process of adjusting to it. It is not easy but the feeling is so fulfilling when I am with my kids. So as much as possible, I want to strike a balance between my work and family life.

Regarding the lemon grass conconction, is it okay if I ask how you do it? A recipe maybe, if there is one? I would like to try this on my kids...

Hi Frances, my dear friend! It's available everywhere! I buy mine from the local market or the grocery store. Five bucks a sheaf! :D Cheap no. I believe though that organic is still the best choice. We don't have a lot of stores carrying organic stuff. If at all they are all located miles away, East Ave. Hospital Sunday market, for example. I just have the leaves soak in a vinegar solution to take off all those pesticides that might have been used.

It's a good thing that even though we don't buy the organic ones, so far so good parin. I guess it's because tanglad easily grows everywhere, no need to use pesticides. I read from one of the research that I have done that you can immerse the roots of a market bought sheaf for one week and plant it in your back yard, which we do not have. Mas ok sana kung home grown. :-)

Being a mother entails so much responsibilities coupled with all the expectations from everyone around you, including yourself. It can be the most overwhelming, ever. It is really important for us to be able to strike that balance somewhere. Buti ka nga, you're getting yourself ready somehow as you psyche yourself. Pano pa kaya yung biglaan nalang naging mother. Mas mahirap yon. Sa totoo lang, I feel blessed that I did not become a mother until we were three years in our marriage. We maximized all those first years together as a couple exclusive to each other. Ang saya, kasi all we had to do was focus on each other. :D

That said, motherhood is also sweetest thing , but with our nature, having imperfect judgment, we are really bound to make mistakes along the way. It can be the most frustrating thing lalo na kasi you want the best for your family. But over all, it really is about celebrating life. If you make boo-boos along the way, don't be hard on yourself. Just keep thinking we are all works-in-progress. Always looking foward to become a better person in all aspects. Above all to do every single thing to glorify God. That alone makes everything hopeful.

I should say that Tita Au focused on that. Her passion for the Lord radiated through her life. I'm sure she would have loved to have known her children better. Nga lang baka nang na- realize niya, you all began to have lives of your own. Naisip ko lang ha, kasi that's how I feel towards my own mom. Career woman din ever, I have very few recollections of her "mothering" me. But when I think about all the sacrifices she has made for our family, those little sentiments of mine seem to be all too trivial. I guess that is also why you also love your mother so much. At least you got to tell her you love her from time to time. That is something I still need to get over- the fear of rejection. I want to finally be able to tell her freely that I love her whether she rejects me or not. Because I really do. That rejection scene just won't fail to hunt me. Something that I ought to give over at the Lord's feet but I keep choosing to hold on to.

With that said, our hope is that the Lord will use our own experiences from our respective family of origin and be better mothers, all for His glory. I know you are going to be a wonderful mother, Frances! :D

My goodness! Where can I buy this miracle leaf? I just order it from Asian restaurants whenever I can.

Anyway, I just want to comment on what you said: "First, I really can’t tell my kiddo that mama is working. Even if I do, he will not completely understand why I cannot just attend to him whenever he wants. That was something I had to learn (and still learning) to manage and handle right. So I shift from working online to doing my chores to taking care of my kid and back again to the endless sweet cycle."

This is something I'm also learning as a new wife! And even if I don't have kids yet, I also think about it already. I do believe that it's important for our husband and children to see that we are more than a wife and mother. That was a struggle in the beginning with my own Mama, who was a career woman and who liked to spend more time working for God's kingdom than spending time with me, for example! When Mama died and I saw how she affected so many people as a friend, I got a bit jealous that she wasn't completely mine. But my heart swelled nevertheless knowing that she was a much bigger person than I thought she was =D
