28wks-3days.jpgRight from when our son was in utero, the hubby and I were convinced that we are going to raise up not just a child we can live with, but a child who will be a blessing to others. Despite the many controversies Baby Wise has with a lot of attachment parenting groups, we held on and we have since seen the benefits it reaps our family, especially our little one. He is more social, bright and confident than children his age.

It is just logical that parents set the rules because children do not have the slightest clue on what’s right and what’s not. One basic foundational thing we have as an anchor in child rearing is, “freedom comes with responsibility.” The child has to know his restrictions primarily because he doesn’t know any better.

Even now that he is just past three years old, he knows and understands why he is not allowed to play with things that are not toys. He has also learned a certain level of discipline that even if we eat outside the house, he remains seated on his chair until he is done. All of us have seen enough adults chasing kids to eat their meals. Discipline and self-control is taught from childhood. It parallels with how the Lord wants his children to stay under the umbrella of His protection, because once we step out, we subject ourselves to heartaches and pains that sin brings.

The Father’s Month was officially over when the first day of July came in. The only thing that the hubby wanted for a father’s day gift was to be able to play soccer at least once a week. He’s doing that ever since. You see, he has stopped playing for awhile especially the months that I was ill. It’s a delight for us the impact of his love for soccer has influenced our son. Right from two years old, the little guy recognizes the logo of Manchester United and every other football team in the world. Another thing is our son obviously favors soccer over basketball despite the fact that the latter is far more famous in the country we live in.

sierra1500.jpgWhen my boys’ favorite English football club, Manchester United was crowned as the UEFA Champions, the hubby will not stop raving about it- on how great the players were. Manchester is not just a big name in football. This place is also the place where Werner Dealerships are found. Check out the New GMC Manchester NH. They carry out the tradition of excellence both in what they sell and customer service. Read the rest of this entry »

When my mobile phone broke down last month, I was set on getting a GPS Tracking capable unit to replace my old one. But the cheapskate that I am, I figured I would settle for a TFT touchscreen phone that is dual sim active. It served the purpose of replacing a defective phone, plus it carried my landline phone sim that allowed me freedom from having to lug around with another mobile unit. Too bad though, this unit does not include a GPS technology which I am so fascinated about. Read the rest of this entry »

eclass2008.jpgI remember when I was working in a bank so many years back, one of the officers I would often come in contact with would share to me her hubby’s fascination over Mercedes Benz. In fact, over picking a newer model of car, he chose a slightly beat up Mercedes. During that time the hubby was still my fiancé and  he was just new at driving his first car ever, a ’93 Toyota Corolla XE. I wasn’t much of a car fan, then, even up until now. All I really knew was drive and that was it.

slclass2008.jpgThe old lady would rave all about Mercedes and the classic that it is.  Among the things she would say over again is that a Mercedes is a top of the line car and would always be super reliable, being the world’s oldest German brand name in automobiles. It’s hands down a great value for your money and it will last you a long time. If you happen to be in the vicinity of Washington DC, you might want to check out the great inventory at the New Mercedes DC . Whether it’s an E-class you are looking for, or you might be a sports fanatic and you would rather a new Mercedes SL-class. They have whatever model of Mercedes you are looking for. I am done with the little guy’s room yesterday. I have finished all the major tasks it needs. No more clutters all over his room. Only one thing left to do is sort his toy box and give away stuff he does not play with anymore. The nursery room back at our church could really use these additions.

After I’m done with some online tasks, I’m off to work on our master’s bedroom. The sheets need to be changed and the drapes as well. I love the sweet smell of freshly changed sheets and changing the drapes gives the room a brand new look. Most of the nice drapes and curtains that I have are given by MIL. She has good taste and I have not bought a single curtain in so many years. Primarily because she has given me tons to mix and match with my beddings. :-)

After having been a bank employee for three full years, it made me realize how so much more professional my former employer is over the other banks that I come across with- only when it comes to dealing with clients. But as for how employees are dealt with, well that’s another story.

My mother will not get off my back until I have done the errands that she has set for me to do since last week. I’m okay with that – I don’t think life will be complete without her occasional frequent reminders on just about anything! It’s just funny how she could do this even if she’s on the other side of the world.  This morning I woke up with a YM message from her about the exact things I need to do.  Her O.C. personality really makes her stand out and ultimately drives her to be excellent in everything she does, despite the fact that she would often rant on her being absentminded.

I went to two banks this morning to do some errands and because I am doing one of which for my mother, I was properly equipped with authorization. I cannot imagine how this bank would have me go to four different stops just to claim one card! I am sure this is also their procedure when one has to claim personal checks. It’s another fun and busy Monday for us. I finally cleared up every single clutter in our son’s room. Although he has began sleeping in his own room before he even turned three, we had to welcome him back to our family bed because of unbearable heat we have been having these past few months.  And I admit to be more than happy to have him back.  ;-)   We only have an airconditioner in the master’s bedroom and the exhaust fan that we got installed (to share the cool air from the airconditioned room) just wouldn’t suffice. It was too hot! So, as expected when a bedroom does not get to be slept in, it becomes a clutter room – a storage area of sorts.

index_specials_32.jpgI got his beddings and drapes washed, cleared everything up, disinfected the room. It is now waiting for the new addition – our little guy’s study table! The hubby has just finished working on the first coat of paint. When it’s nice and ready, we will be looking into getting a lighting that will set his study nook’s ambiance. I was browsing through Farrey.com and they have tons of varieties from fine art lamps to quoizel lighting. I particularly love this piece for our son’s room and what do you know, it’s currently on sale! ;-)

After hearing much abuzz about Sandy’s Pizza, we finally got to taste our first 18″ sampler: Margherita, Garlic Chorizo, White Pizza and Meatzarella.  All five of us who went to the pizza shop at San Juan had their own favorites.  Mine was the Margherita, the hubby’s was the White Cheeze and Garlic Chorizo.  But more than the pizza, what rocked best was their tangy, ultra yummy buffalo wings!  It would have been sweeter if we could eat all these goodies right from our very own home theater seating, but even then, that cannot be possible just yet because they don’t deliver to this far side of the metropolis where we are located.  This is why we beat the miles to the traffic jammed route to their shop and I am glad to report, it was definitely worth it. ;-)

“Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” Hebrews 10:25

We had a blessed worship service at church this morning. How about you, how did your day go? I am so happy to report that a handful of our church members are faithfully going through the discipleship program. It did take a while for this to take off after having been launched a few years back.

The above verse is included in the “Church Membership” Lesson of the discipleship material. It just thrills me how the members are moving up from becoming baby Christians even as they choose to be equipped with the foundations of the faith through this program.  Seeing them grow and nurture their relationship with our Savior encourages my heart.  Most of those who have graduated are the ones equipping the new ones.

If you are in California and you want to find a church in Rancho Santa Fe, you might want to check out this emergent church called Horizon Christian Fellowship. Their address is 6365 El Apajo Road, Rancho Santa Fe, CA and their Senior Pastor is Dr. Bob Botsford. He is part of the Advisory Board for the Billy Graham School of Evangelism.  Check out their “I Want a Better Marriage” series and visit Horizon.org for more information.

DS and I just got home from the morning worship service. DH went off to go back to Makati and do two more services. I have been seriously considering getting a helper- so I could be more effective in being the hubby’s help-meet in the ministry. But then again, I have seen the hassles of living with a stay in helper, and I want none of that.

images13.jpgThese are just a few of the things that I have been preoccupied with lately. I know it was my choice to work from home and juggle everything. I just thought of considering getting a helper, because the hubby would voice out his need for me to be around him in the ministry more. This is really something we have to sit down on soon.

Meanwhile, I’m choosing to count my blessings despite the many distractions around me. To relax and just dwell on God’s goodness even as we now enjoy a place of our own despite how busy life has been lately. I just thought it to be such a blessing that in this densely populated city, we were given the land that our house is standing on for free. Lots cost a great deal these days. For this we are indeed grateful.

Here’s a screenshot of what kept me so occupied last week. I have had this site for months now, but it only picked up a couple of weeks back. It received six assignments in a week!  It may not be much, but it is something for a blog that has been sleeping for months.  It was fun doing all those assignments, although it took a lot of my time.  It can be quite a task incorporating the links to the blog’s niche.  I can only hope I was more creative.  :-)

I’m hoping to be able to cook up some interesting topics from beauty basics, even acne cream, fashion do’s and don’ts and everything in between.  Check out the site when you get the chance, Kikaycorner.blogspot.com.  It’s not much, but it’s helping rake in some moolah and I’m hoping to be able to maintain it well and good. ;-)

Proverbs 31:30 “Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.”

The world loves beautiful people and many people would do anything to become one of them. In Asia, our country, the Philippines, is the number one market for whitening creams according to some report I saw on the television a few weeks ago. The rise of many beauty clinics that offer whitening services, cosmetic surgery, warts removal and facial services show the great demand for beauty services. More and more people are finding ways to improve their looks and their self esteem as well through these methods.

Not to say that wanting to look better is wrong, but too much of anything can be dangerous. My wife uses products that make her more beautiful and I appreciate her knowledge in that (she even has a blog about it) and I myself use some products that my wife introduced to me. So there is nothing wrong with desiring beauty.

However, there is something more important than outer beauty. I believe that every person, not only women, should focus first on the inner beauty or what is in our hearts. In 1 Samuel 16:7 it says that “the Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” More important than getting the approval of the people around us is the approval of our Master. Having a mindset that we live for the audience of one can radically change the way we interact with people and the way we look at ourselves. Just some thoughts to ponder on.

A few weeks ago my wife and I registered at a site that offers jobs online. This online service connects job seekers with providers and pays on an hourly rate or on a per-project basis. It is different from creating paid posts. They provide real jobs and the online company monitors the things you do online through desktop screen captures and they evaluate if you are doing your job or not. It requires a fixed time to do the job but once you do have one, especially if you get one with an hourly pay, you have a sure income.

The online service provides examinations that make you certified in a particular field you choose. I have taken test like the Technical Writing Skills certification, the Editing skills certification and the English test because with my job experiences, I was only able to apply for writing jobs. Compared to jobs related to IT, the writing jobs don’t pay much. This makes me think about venturing into learning new skills and maybe even getting a Cisco certification in the near future. This will surely be a great addition to my profile/resume in this company. I’m sure getting this certification will not just result to gaining additional skills but also broaden the available job opportunities, not only online but in the real world as well. Since the prices continue to increase here in our country. Plus, we are making preparations for our son’s schooling, having additional certifications that can lead to more job opportunities that have a flexible time will help us meet those demands. We just thank God that at present, He has enabled us to find other means to meet increasing financial needs.

Our sister taught our son this dance step to the commercial jingle which is making waves in the local television. This commercial is currently gaining a number of kid followers. The first few times I had him dance, he would be kind of shy and he would dance with his back facing me. Now he is on it and is having fun dancing away. I’m sure my folks would love to watch this video. They were the ones who taught our boy to do the “bow” whenever he performs and he has been doing it since then. :-)
