My first encounter with Cher was when I was a college freshman. It was more than a decade ago when I first heard a remake of the song that she and her former partner, Sonny Bono popularized back when they were still an item. I instantly fell for the song and had to do quite a research on their original version. I loved it. As the years went by, Cher did a movie and then recorded a hit making song that ushered her back to the throne where she once was.
When Kuya Jessie, a friend blogger, wrote about her in one his previous articles, it was only then that it occurred to me that she was already as old as my mother. It is just ultra amazing that there is just no trace of old age in this immortal diva. My own mother cannot even believe it when I told her that they are the same age. Can you believe it, that she is even back doing concerts? My mother is scheduled to fly to America next month and she just might want to buy one of those Cher Tickets at Caesars Palace to watch her live. Her relaunch to the concert scene is a much awaited event to many of her fans.
No, we are not wearing uniforms, but we might as well have. To top the long weekend, we just hang out after the storm “Frank” forced us into an unexpected blogging hiatus. It was unexpected all right, but a welcome break nonetheless. We met up with my sister and her hubby at the mall and just had fun together.
It is rainy season again, kicked off by a devastating typhoon, “Frank”, which left many typhoon victims, either homeless or losing a loved one. With these great disasters, I feel quite guilty writing about our old car which rains inside, but I just want to thank God for the shelter He has provided us in our house and our old car when we travel. We pray that the needs of those deeply affected by this storm, “Frank”, would be met and that they would find comfort in their sorrow and distress.
With that said, our plan to buy a new car has changed. We now are having thoughts about either getting our old car fixed or buying a second had car from used cars centers. In my opinion, buying a used car is quite a risky move. Those venturing into it should do detailed research on the car that they are interested in. Some information they need to find out are the car’s mileage, who the previous owner or owners of the car are, how the car was used by its previous owner/s and its maintenance history as much as possible. BuyYourCar.co.uk does this research on second-hand cars and is a reliable source of used cars online.
Our little guy first surprised us as he quoted away the whole verse of Ephesians 6:1 on our way home from a holiday getaway with friends from Subic last year, a couple of days after he turned two years old. Last week the hubby introduced Psalm 37:4 to our son and quoted the verse as our little guy followed after him. He did this twice and on the third, we were surprised to hear him breezing through the verse, complete with hand actions.
We are praying that even as he remembers these words from his heart and as we reinforce the things that we teach him through these verses, he will grow up not just a person that we could live with, but a person who will understand why we choose to train him the way we do and eventually will rise up to fulfill what God has purposed for him to be.
Whenever he tries to do things his way, we remind him of the verses and we see that as we allow him to digest the things that we explain to him, he does understand. Truth is, by nature, man will go his own way, this is one reason we are proactive in teaching our child the things he has to value in his formative years.
I am blessed to be able to take care of my son like I have and I feel even more blessed to have the husband that I have to partner with as we share one heart in raising our son.
Ephesians 6:1
“Obey your parents in the Lord for this is right..”
Psalm 37:4
“Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.”
Our family’s inclination towards going “green” has jump started years ago. I just thought we seriously have to consider a relaunch now that we are pretty much off from distractions and we could really get down to the job of getting rid of everything unnatural. Aside from taking in organic foods, we already have gotten rid of major cleaning agents and other consumables that have non-natural ingredients.
One thing we could do to push towards that cause is blog about how going “green” can go as far as living in a very building that was made by a company doing eco-friendly practice of using recycled metal. Aside from being “green” in this sense, Metal Buildings made be Apex Buildings are quality engineered to see you through many years of low-maintenance service.
A number of our family members are certified tennis fans. The hubby also likes tennis, although soccer tops his list. If I got it right their all time favorites are the sisters Serena and Venus Williams. Whenever tournaments are scheduled to go live, the boob tube will never cease playing games after games from Wimbledon. The thing is they cannot do that anymore with the cable subscription terminated last month, we just have had enough of their lousy service. Anyway, I think it will delight my folks to know that they can continue to watch Wimbledon LIVE via MediaZone. What’s more is they even get to pick which of the matches they want to watch and even back track to previous matches of years before. Awesome, huh?
Presenting our lil’ helper. This little guy loves getting things done and helping me out around the house. I call him my little handy boy. He would always ask me, albeit sometimes at annoying level (especially if I’m busy working), if he could help me with anything. He’s a doll. A ken doll to me. :-)
While online shopping is not new to me, the sites that make me browse through their pages for hours on end are the ones that does not focus on a particular product or service. I love going through different categories, comparing items and all.
The most recent treasure find I have stumbled upon has all the categories in it that you hardly have reason to go elsewhere! Beauty Warehouse. When I first got into their site, I thought it was just one of those usual beauty products site. I was in for a wonderful surprise when they have a whole set of categories from beauty to furniture, to everything else in between. Read the rest of this entry »
The hubby and I used to be proud owners of a Persian carpet. Although it was a hand me down from my mother’s, it did showcase our living room in such a way that no other centerpiece or chandelier had. It gave a feel of classy coziness. Sad to say, no matter how we loved that living room piece, it had to go. We did not know better on how to care for it, much less know of a company that does cleaning services for carpets.
It was only recently that I realized that carpet cleaners companies exist. Too bad for me, I should have known better. I had to sell ours during one of those garage sale events we had over the years, at such a give away price. Read the rest of this entry »
The one year lock up period that we have with our current internet provider is over in three weeks. I swear this has been a most awaited time for us – we waited one full year. We are one patient couple. When we used to have a landline, I tried applying for a DSL bundle, it took them forever (I gave up on them because I cannot anymore get stuck with a dial up) to process my DSL application and now they are all over the place offering three day connection promotion of sorts. My only apprehension is what if it turns out that it is even lousier than smartbro?
The last couple of months we are set on switching to DSL, but upon hearing several dissatisfied clients, we are actually having second thoughts. Although the former complaints that we have had with our current provider(intermittent connection, uber slow response, et. al) were addressed, we are still not happy with the current speed that they deliver. You see, when most of the people we know are downloading files in minutes, we are having it done in days! For sometime I even thought that we had to get a new CAT6, but figured it was really our ever unreliable internet service provider. Read the rest of this entry »

The hassle of driving around in our old car has lessened after days of less rain. Now that it’s as hot as summer here in the Philippines even though it is supposed to be rainy season we’re glad that our vehicle’s air conditioning still works even though it’s showing signs of giving out. This old Nissan California has been a real blessing and we are praying that in the next few months we can get it a face lift a complete body repair. Its engine and its cooling system are working just fine. There was a time though that it’s cooling system needed much attention. It could have used a slim electric fan for its radiator then but we thank God that it’s no longer necessary. Read the rest of this entry »

For the cause of me and my family getting healthier, I have been doing a lot of juicing these past few days. I have always believed in going natural for as long as I can remember. I drink no less than 10 glasses a day and on extremely hot days, I swear I could drink a quarter of our 5 gallon supply of water that’s upside down the dispenser. I am not exaggerating. I have been a “water person” in this sense. But for some reason, during the years that passed, I practically selected on the “naturals” that I have been doing.
Let’s face it, it can be a task to go natural. One major non-negotiable was sticking on my little guy’s brown rice staple. He has been consuming brown rice right from when he started learning how to take in solids, or should I say, semi-solids. During that time, I process his ration in a grinding machine before I have it cooked. It worked for him and his growth and development has been above average since. We are glad to have leered away from those usual commercial baby food products. Although I had him on cerelac for a while, I soon got to my senses when I investigated on what I was giving my child.
Okay, so you may ask, why Sweet Potato Tops Juice (Camote Juice) of all the hundreds of different vegetable sheaves on earth, aside from being the most refreshing and easy to prepare. Here’s why, as I go through from one forum to another, I have been getting the same kind of buzz over Camote juice, its ability to cure the deadly Dengue, boost immunity and all. After you get to read the item below, I know I need not say more. Read the rest of this entry »
Online shopping is becoming even more popular nowadays. What primarily attracted me to it is I get to compare and investigate on ingredients and the what nots of a product. Some great products I know are not easily available from your usual grocery store or mall. Anyone who has tried online shopping will agree with me that it can be the most convenient. Besides what could be more convenient than doing your very errands right from the comforts of your own home? This has been my thinking until I heard of scammers and hackers having the ability to steal identities from the details that you give out when you shop online.
Being a newbie in this internet business, I did not know it has been going on for many years now. What honestly scared the wits out of me was when a friend’s identity from one of those social network accounts got hacked, and then emails upon emails would flood my inbox with warnings and horror stories of real people getting scammed. This is a serious matter and it concerns me big time especially that I practically do more internet banking than physically go to my branch of account.
Visit Shop Shield® and Learn More on how you could protect yourself from identity thefts, especially when you do your transactions online. Be in the know on how you can conceal personal information whenever you transact and how to practically eradicate the possibility of anyone stealing your identity. Truth be told, you never really know who among these companies actually sell their clients information to third parties. And then again, there are also those genius hackers who stop at nothing to get their loot from unsuspecting victims.
