Remember this post? Even as there is a real epidemic of missing fathers, we also need to celebrate the fathers who choose to measure up to the calling the Lord has put upon them and this is to lead their respective families honorably. They may not be aplenty, but there are lots of them who are on their way there or even have arrived and are choosing to disciple young men showing them that to really live is to take that straight path, no matter how preachy that sounds. Not what those stupid commercials would have them believe that the only way to live is to get drunk and get all their insatiable desires quenched at all cost.
Fathers in this league deserve more than just luxury watches or material things. Allow me to repost here men’s basic needs and maybe wives could reassess how we treat our own men. I know this for sure, my hubby deserves more than what I’m giving him and I intend to do better and make sure he knows that I appreciate and admire everything about him. Read the rest of this entry »

In the next few days we will go shop for our little guy’s beddings. I have blogged some days ago that his faithful covers are getting thinner and thinner by the wash and needs to have an alternative. I would often just throw the beddings in the washer and get them back on when they are dry and clean. As I have been surfing online, I am giddy over this design. Isn’t it adorable?
We have to get a set just like this one with bed skirts. His bed lies on top of a bed box that is all exposed and who knows what bacteria and dust mites might just hang around if we keep it that way for long. I love JoJo Designs, that’s for sure. They are 100% cotton and great styles to boot. Their camo bedding is just awesome. I have not seen the same style in our local department stores. It’s like setting up my little boy’s room in style. The hubby would often compliment my wise shopping ability. He would often tell me that I know best and I happen to believe this is true even as I always settle for no less than intelligent shopping. Because I believe this is the only way that we could get our money’s worth.
Â
For instance, when we bought our Canon Powershot. First, we were pretty keen on taking in a Nikon model, which is a point and shoot but way cheaper. I read a whole lot of reviews and gauged from comparisons and ratings which was best and the A620 won by a full notch. It was not our dream DSLR, but it was way better than a point and shoot, wherein we could play with the aperture and shutter priorities and actually get creative with our photography stylistics.
Â
I believe this is what NetworkShopper Online Shopping has in mind: to cater to minds like mine. I can sometimes be all too OC and until I have set on mind on the best buy, nothing is good enough for me. Read the rest of this entry »

Tomorrow we will be celebrating the fifth birthday of the church the hubby pastors. We are indeed thrilled even as we press on towards fulfilling the great commission through this local church. I just hope to share with you a group shot from last year’s anniversary. On our fifth year we celebrate on the exact date the church was born five years ago, its first service ever was held on May 25, 2003.

Before our little guy turned three a couple of weeks back, I had his closet sorted. I know it should not be much as a surprise for me that I have to take out an overflow of Baby Clothes that no longer fit him. It came to me after having the clothes sorted that all he has left are a few shirts and shorts that will no longer fit him in the coming months. I should have seen this coming when I noticed some weeks back that he alternately uses just three or four of his good clothes whenever we go to church. At three years old, he currently wears clothes for five year olds! Read the rest of this entry »

This post will be related to the previous one even as it again concerns the family finances. When you’re young, one tends to be carefree and cool about things in the future. Although I consider myself to be relatively prudent, (Thanks Ma!), there were still things I could have done better at, even in the earlier days of our marriage. Like even with the limited resources we had back then, be could have started small and saved a little at a time.
We are now in the time of our lives that we are left with no other option but to tighten our belts and prepare for the major happening in any growing family’s life – preschool education. Our son is soon to enter preschool and we still have zero budget meant for that particular expense.
But we should on our way there in no time. We intended to have three Savings Accounts intended for different purposes. Read the rest of this entry »

I was raised in family where mothers are expected to be frugal. I happen to believe that this is one commendable characteristic that should be valued. We should always be wise in managing the resources that are given us. To live within the means, is a saying that is as old as time but many are having a hard time measuring up with.

Let’s face it there are just seasons like Christmas, Valentine’s and all the other gift giving seasons that are celebrated the world over. And all these are apart from the birthday celebration that we celebrate across the calendar year as a family. Gift giving has been a part of our culture. It’s here to stay. What can help families to stay within their respective budgets is to look out for black friday ads, which comes out a day after Thanksgiving. Read the rest of this entry »

I know a handful of families suffering this fate. For most of them, this is not caused by early demise of the head of the family, but more of a choice that was made one time or the other by the fathers themselves. The hubby himself has lived majority of his life with an absentee father and could only go back to the time when he was smaller that he was with his father.
Even as forgiveness can bridge gaps and heal wounds, reality sets in and stares us in the face that this could be one of the major reasons why some fathers just have no idea how being a “father” means more than just their contribution to the genetic make up of the child. It is only by God’s grace that I don’t live to see its ill-effects. The Lord has redeemed this family because of the choices the hubby has made. Redemption is possible. I know I have seen a handful of times, men putting the blame to their pasts. But as the hubby would have it, ultimately you have control over the things you want in your life and it is true.

Towards my last trimester of pregnancy in early 2005, people around me were convinced I was carrying twins. I knew I was carrying a singleton male right from my fourth month of pregnancy and I could not be moved. But really now, there are a lot of advantages in having twins, more than having to choose from one of those cutie strollers for twins. Let’s look at four:
1. One time pregnancy.
2. You have two kids of the same age. If they happen to be both boys, then they can share clothes. Even share one stroller for twins.
3. It can be actually a relief to rear at one time, when you have adjusted life with twins and have devised a system that will work for the family. Think about this, most women experience having their first child enter school, just to find out they are pregnant again with kid number two.
4. You practically have given your twins each other to be each other’s best friend right from infancy.

Admittedly, even as I am barely half year old in this problogging business, I still consider myself a noob. In reality I have been in the blogosphere for more than three years now, as a member of one of those popular social networks. I only took interest in problogging late last year and it was during the same time that I found out that being webmaster means more than just keeping a site, uploading my files and keeping to myself. That was basically what I was doing, minding my own thing because all I really wanted was to journal and have a permanent storage in the world wide web.
As I took interest in problogging and explored the many facets of expanding our resources even via the internet, I learned about the value of exchanging links. The ability of blogs cross-promoting each other makes up to a big chunk of that good statistics that every blogger wants.
One platform that can be helpful for bloggers like me is 23Blogs.com – FREE Blog Roll TEXT Link Exchange.(1:10). It gives you a thousand credits upon signing up and code placement, with lots of CSS styles to choose from. It works as member blogs display a box containing the links and allows for member to earn credits. Best of all, this is absolutely free.

I know it is but too early to rejoice, but as today’s prime time news had it, there is a buzz that short messaging service should have been given free by mobile phone companies right from the beginning. Primarily because this should only come as an extra feature to the standard voice calls. Oh well, it might just be too good to be true, but then again, it would really be a big relief to the pocket of the texting capital this country is known to be. Read the rest of this entry »

One of the wisest men that ever lived once wrote, “A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold.†(Proverbs 22:1) A family name is important most especially the reputation that it carries with it. Politicians understand this, especially those who pass their political leadership on to their children and grandchildren. Even businessmen respect the offspring coming from the line of business tycoons’ families. So, what King Solomon wrote was true. The family name and it’s good reputation really is worth more than any riches. In many cases, the name is what brings the riches in.
Even brand names of particular products can convey certain qualities of value and quality. Like Mazda, for example. This brand name stands for uncompromised quality of vehicles, great value and awesome driving experience. Vehicles such as the Mazda RX-8 and the Mazda CX7 are well known in sports cars and family or business cars, respectively. New Mazda Manchester NH is the web site of Werner Mazda, a company that provides new or used Mazdas – from luxury sedans to new or used Mazda 3’s. Read the rest of this entry »
