The hubby and I together with our team from the church spent our whole day yesterday in one of the many public high schools in Makati. We conducted seminars focusing on the topics of attitude, obedience and integrity/character. It truly is a challenge to be able to make a difference in the lives of these young people.

One of the many concerns of high school students is where to get their college degree when they graduate. myUsearch comes in handy for these graduating high school students and help them find that college that is right for them. It basically narrows down for them matches based on the criteria which can really help a great deal in choosing the best place to earn their degree. It’s like taking college search in whole new level which can prove to be beneficial and can lower the incidence of drop outs and college hopping in the long run.

With the big event for fathers coming up in the next three weeks, I am seriously running out of ideas of getting a hold of the best Father’s Day Gift for the hubby. My husband for six years and still counting and a father for more than three years now, I know I have a lot to thank God for. Jeff has been God’s ultimate manifestation of His love for me next to the eternal security of my Salvation through Christ Jesus.
When I seriously think about it, I should really be grateful for having not a perfect husband but a sinner redeemed by God and has chosen to press on living the life God has in mind for him and more. I consider myself really blessed to say the least. The Lord has allowed me to live and have the husband and father of my child that I now have. Read the rest of this entry »

One of the ways we can express love aside form words of affirmation, is by spending quality time with our loved ones. This may mean doing quality activities together like jogging together, doing household chores together, playing a sport together. As a couple, my wife and I used to play badminton together and this is one quality activity we enjoyed doing together. Sometimes, quality time may mean having quality conversation because for some people even doing something together isn’t enough. Spending time to talk to each other is very important especially if this is the love language of your spouse or child. If this need is not met in the home family members will try to find it somewhere else.

Yesterday was a very busy but fun day for me. The hubby took his time off to accompany me to my oath taking rites and after we swung around the largest mall in Asia which was near the place where twenty five percent of examinees who took the board last April took oath. The hubby then insisted on getting me my dresser for my congratulatory gift and we did check out a few displays. I thought it was too pricey, the frugal in me would rather check out discount designer handbags, clothing, shoes, watches and sunglasses, I have not gone shopping in a while and it was a treat! This is our son’s latest preoccupation. The starter kit was a gift from his Tita Ninang Rose for his birthday. From his love for all sorts of cars, he now have his eye for trains. His first train ride fascinated him and would point to it and refer to it as “a real train,” every time we would ride past them whenever we go places.
I remember when we were once in a mall in Cubao, he saw the road leading to the train station, he practically dragged the hubby and me towards the station and wanted to go for a ride! Back home he could spend hours on end rearranging his train tracks and watch Thomas and his friend, Percy with the chocolate factory go around. Throwing in his collection of farm animals and cattle supplies toys to the set and have it match with the windmill, might just be a great idea. It’s fun seeing him get creative as he incorporates his makeshift buildings from his toy blocks. Read the rest of this entry »

I just got back a while back from my oath taking. Now that I have stirred clear of most of the major things on my back, I am so going to start the long delayed garage sale that I have got planned since early March. Lots of things came up that got my time and attention that this has been pushed aside. Not for long. I really have got to get rid of things that I don’t need that can still be of considerable value to others. I have given away a handful of items already but there are still a lot more to be disposed.
I remember holding a garage sale a month after we transferred to our brand new house last year. Through the years we have accumulated a lot of things that do not have as much value now, some have been replaced and as a rule we try to practice that whenever there is something bought, something has to be given away. As we are blessed, we bless others.

Clearing a house can really be tough. From those five years that we have transferred from one home to another, I only hoped back then that there was a service that does House clearance that is available locally such as those of cityclearance.com of London. They specialize in clearing all types of houses and offices, even storage facilities. I could only imagine how easy this task would have been done if only I got a hold of such service. Make sure to check this one out for any of your home or office clearing issues.

I hear people say that when majority of your time is spent with kids, you get shallow and there is a tendency to stay stagnant, your brains getting rusty and all those other nasty stuff. I would strongly have to disagree with that. It really all depends on the parent-at-watch. Aside from the fact that it takes a whole lot of creativity and activity to catch up with the little ones. Our house, which is located in Antipolo City, has lots of ants in its surrounding areas. Even while eating, once and a while, my son and I would spot a few ants scavenging for food on our dinner table. It’s a good thing they are not fire ants which sting.
Fire ants can bite and sting numerous times and they attack in droves causing intense pain and burning. To avoid fire ant stings one has to simply learn to recognize places that may have fire ants, like nests or mounds. Getting in the way of their food trail could be enough to cause a disturbance for them to start swarming. Visit ControlFireAnts.com for more information about fire ants.

In any family, communication is very important, especially husbands and wives communicating love to each other, parents to their children and children to their parents. But the problem is that many times, we communicate love in ways that are often misunderstood by those receiving the message. A book written by Gary Chapman entitled the “Five Love Languages” explains this very clearly.
Much like communicating with other people, when we use a different language that the other person can’t understand, this creates miscomunication or misunderstanding. In order for two people to communicate clearly they must both use the same language - either one has to learn the other person’s language. Read the rest of this entry »

Today the hubby and I just got rid of our supposedly brand new bed box. We bought it a couple of weeks back around the same time we got a hold of our memory foam bed. We were too excited we did not check what we purchased. Turned out the Chinese guy gave us nothing but lip service when he sales talked us into buying his bed box on half the regular price.
As the hubby had it, there goes the fifty percent discount! Our reason was more than enough that we almost gave it away by selling it from our barely launched garage sale at PhP 500 (approx. $12.50). It was actually another record for us. It got sold in no more than 10 minutes upon putting up the sign! Our old bed and its frame got sold at 30 minutes two weeks ago.

We are hoping to have a nice bed frame with an elegantly cushioned headboard. When we are able to make this a reality, I am so going to convince the hubby to go get us new sets of sheets, one of which will have the same frilly design of the floral crib bedding from beyond-bedding.com. I am big on florals and this one will fit our new bed set just fine. Their floral designs run from Oriental Garden, Abby Rose, Daisies designs and much more! I am not going to run out of choices at all. I will now have to take my pick and get the hubby’s approval.
