Our family is proactive when it comes to valuing our environment. We do our share either by using products that are organic or recycling materials. To prove this, instead of disposable diapers, I have made use of leakproof cloth diapers to my son in his diapering years. There are a lot more examples, that at first were frowned upon by hubby, but now have come to embrace them. It is never too late to influence people around us to be conscious of our environment. For one, there is no replacing the mother earth that we now have.

It is interesting to know that a firm is especially designed to do the recycling processes of plastic, rubber and polymeric recyclable materials. They provide services such as Scrap HDPE: Read the rest of this entry »

My getting hospitalized last week really got me and dear hubby to think about and consider getting a health insurance for our son. Both of us are covered except for our son. We still cannot figure out why despite the many follow ups that we did to inquire on the issue. Our son is turning three in a couple of months and he is still not covered. I have got him covered for more than two years now with accident insurance but that is just not enough. We have recently been made conscious of this fact when we first had him undergo some lab test for his primary complex screening.

I figured the health insurance card the company took in isn’t a very good one or they probably availed of benefits that are not family friendly. If only they considered insurance plans like that of Kaiser health plan which is designed to perfectly fit their clients specific healthcare requirements then we should not be going through the hassles that we now have. Free at last. This was the minute after I was released from my heplock and a day before I got discharged. My poor swollen wrist has not recovered yet until now, four days after I left the hospital.  Read the rest of this entry »

My wife being hospitalized for four days this past week made us appreciate more the importance of having medical insurance. We were able to leave the hospital paying only a very minimal amount instead of paying for the whole amount which is almost P50,000 ($1,200).

Individuals, families or small businesses can get health insurance in California at KaiserQuotes.com. This company provides quotes on Kaiser Health Plans available across the United States. For those based in California where medical underwriting is required for individual health plans, this web site suggests getting group health insurance because it does not require medical underwriting. KaiserQuotes.com is a good source of low-cost medical insurance with quality coverage at reasonable prices.

Yesterday Jed’s Tita and “ninong” visited us here and did a marathon watching the first season of Prison Break. They brought Jed with them when they went home as they have been asking us days before permission for Jed to stay overnight with them. Jen and I have passed making this decision to each other probably showing hesitation or trying to escape making a decision about allowing our three-year-old son to spend the night else where because we’re going to miss him. But a decision was eventually made and this morning, unlike the usual mornings at our house, no little guy came to our bed to wake me and my wife up. One night is more than enough for us to miss our son. We know we’ll be seeing him later but we can’t deny that we miss him, especially after days spent last week at the hospital without our son.

One of the hazy shots I took from my cam phone when our son came to visit me at the hospital. As much as I wanted to spare my son from having to step on a hospital, I permitted my sister to bring him along with her and her hubby when they came to visit last Sunday. Read the rest of this entry »

New Faucet

The other day the faucet that came with the bath tub we bought gave way. It isn’t even a year yet but we purchased it when we conceptualized the design of our bath room for our almost one-year-old house. I had to buy a new faucet, similar to Danze faucets, which costs around $60 (I thought it wouldn’t cost more than $25) and replace the old one. I didn’t have the right tools so we ended up not having water for two days instead of just one day. But I got a pat on the back from my wife and my son after having replaced the faucet. My wife even jokingly told me that I could get a part-time job as a plumber for the job well done.

I just realized how fun it is to watch one movie after another. I have actually missed doing this and was recently introduced back to the fun it brings during my stay at the hospital. It was a good thing we brought with us more than a couple of discs and more than enough videos saved in our trusty laptop, even without our expecting that we will be staying in the hospital more than three days. Although it would have been perfect watching movies on home theater sconces, the frigid bed of the hospital proved to be good enough. We just made ourselves comfortable with full blast airconditioning and a lot of cuddling.

One click of a finger. That’s all it takes to be able to arrive at places in the internet where you can have loads of information on the subject of your liking. This is probably one of the neatest things that I love about the internet.

One site that I have come across that could come in handy, especially as I counsel a handful of girls in their troublesome years, is this Drug Rehab mobile site. This site updates its content with weekly articles on addiction, Drug Rehab, Drug Rehabs, personality disorders, scientific studies which are very educational and have lots of info on the dynamics of getting rehabilitated. Today is another lazy day for a lot of people. It’s another national holiday for our country and another extra day for the family to gather up and enjoy each other. Our family did our traditional cook out and grilled some pork and chicken. Yummy! Read the today’s papers on the update on the disturbance between China and Tibet, some best credit card deals deals and more on entertainment news. Hubs and son slept in the afternoon after doing a task or two on the net. I will post some pictures of our lunch  from our patio later. Hubby has been toying with the idea of going on a long drive, but we just found out we’re currently low on funds because of my hospital expenses. Oh well, most resorts and places to go to might just be too crowded as expected. It’s fun enough that we could all be together having fun doing our thing. Maybe tomorrow or the day after we just might figure out a low cost trip or something.

One of the nicer things that happened during my hospital stay was hubby and I were able to do movie marathons from “Lightning,” our ever reliable lappy. We watched National Treasure 1 and 2, and Good Will Hunting. I also watched the movie “Enchanted” for the second time when he was out doing some errands around the hospital. One of my personal favorites among the movies that we have watched recently is American Gangster. Read the rest of this entry »
