Financial Management in Our Family
One of the major issues in the family is finances. When we were first married, we settled on how we are to go about our finances and I should say it proved to be beneficial. From the beginning, we were made aware that conflicts arise due to financial issues. Although times are hard, we try as best as we could to have things in their place and especially plan major expenses. There really is no other way.
We are especially conscious on how we use our credit cards and manage them the best we can. We have paid off a major chunk of our outstanding balance. I must say that we still believe that people are better off using debit cards over credit cards. But during the time that we used ours, it was really an emergency and we had no cash available at hand. But we are hopeful that before the year ends, we will just be maintaining one credit card with the lowest interest rate and get rid of the other ones. Most of which are pre-approved ones.
Last month when we got a hold of our choices of home insurance quotes, we settled for the best deal and we since got our home covered. These are just a few of the things that a couple needs to keep track of. Other major inclusions are health, life and car insurance. Most of which gets settled once a year. It is more convenient that way so that they are off our backs the rest of the year. When these are settled, we are left to face just the everyday, weekly and monthly expenses. All of which comes as non-major ones and could easily spread throughout even as our weekly and bi-monthly income come.
As we try to physically manage our finances, we still give it to the Lord that we are able to do the things we do and we are blessed the way we are. I know there are people better off than we are. But the fact that we know that in its entirety, it is He who controls everything, our hearts are settled. And we know that as long as He centers our lives, our family, our marriage, even each one of us individually, even if struggles of finances or otherwise come in all its variety of forms, we know we will be fine.
